It was funny to see people boo Eric Bana at comic con when they announced the line up a couple years ago. He was Hulk first though.

You catch the ending of Captain American?

haven't seen Captain America yet, but will see it very soon as he's my Favorite "well known" superhero.

I was watching "Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes" yesterday, and they had wolverine (unknown at the time) in one of the battle scenes with Cap'n and Bucky. Wonder how accurate that is in the Marvel-verse.

Cant give props to Bana's hulk, Im just getting over losing that much of my life from watching it. Nortons hulk though.....Full of win.
The scene that followed this was Legendary:

If Captain America doesn't fight like this or better, I'm gonna be pissed. Being an X-Men fan to the core, this scene is the only thing that got me excited about an Avengers movie. I've never really cared much for 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes'. Mutants FTW.

I forgot I saw a pre-release showing of it last weekend. Wait till the end credits. There is an afterstory like IM2.

The movies really haven't been true to the comics as far as time line. But, he did fight in WWII with Captain America.

Yea, they used that guy that acts like a d.ck of a guy in every movie he's in. He sort of acts like one in Thor too.

I bet the Avenger's movie isn't going to live up to any hype it gets. I'm sure the story is going to be crammed into 1.5hrs or so and feel rushed. I'll watch it still.

Edit, what would do marvel good is an epic three or four part movie series like Lord of the rings, etc.. But they'd need good acting and directing.

this movie looks sick imo. i've loved all the movies up til now, thought they followed comics fairly well from what i remember. as far as no edward norton as hulk, im over it. thought it was pretty weak at first but i couldnt care less now, as long as the "hulk" looks the same.

one thing that will be interesting to see, is how cap's shield takes the blow from thors hammer (in the first trailer). i know its supposed to absorb all energy but thor's hammer is magic

alright, iron man beating up thor? i dont see it. sorry but imo, the only way any of them stand a chance against loki's army is if a) he has other not-so-godly soldiers, or b) thor shares some of his science/tech. the hulk is the only player that i can imagine doing well. like stark said:
loki "i have an army"
stark "we have a hulk"

somebody prove me wrong lol. i just want this movie to come out

driftsucky
02-29-2012, 02:16 PM
I understand Loki is a "god" and everything, as is Thor, but if you follow the comics, they were all pretty equally matched. I mean, as a comparison, Spiderman, in marvelverse, is almost as strong as Hulk. The big dissemination doesn't come until the Hulk splits between greay hulk (the smarter one) and the green hulk (basicaly a ravaging green beast that is far stronger than the original hulk). Iron Man's suit gives him similar power levels to Thor and Captain America isn't far behind that. Even Hawkeye is decently capable because of his agility (don't know how that would really work out, but again, pulling from the comics).

That said, I think this will be a decent movie. Ima go see it.

Terrence Howard was not brought onto the second iron man film because he apparently is an asshole to work with and demanded a hike in pay to do the second after how well the first one did. He actually made more money than Robert Downey Jr in the first one (mainly because nobody wants to hire RDJ to do any movies lol, that's the reason why jon faverau refuses to direct any iron man sequels since a lot of part 1 was ad-libbed.)

As far as Edward Norton goes, it took me forever to find the link that gave the meat and potatoes without going into some crap about avengers ho hum since he actually considered doing hulk in avengers even after telling marvel to eat a bowl of dicks. But this will explain why he had no interest in reprising the hulk role.

Avengers was awesome. Watch it in Real 3D. Well worth the $ 15.00. The movie gave equal parts and involvement in every character. They did some plot building on each character, without diluting it with back story. Amazing action! What made this movie was the hulk. Ruffalo hands down has been the best Dr. Banner/Hulk. Since the hulk is nothing but Cgi, they introduced him at the right time, doing what he does best and left the "acting" to Banner. My problem with the first 2 hulk movies was that he was too fake. The hulk in these previous 2 movies was put to "Act", which is why the 2 movies stunk. Leave him to destroy and disappear. I will say Norton's Hulk revision was 100x better than the first. The Avengers movie definitely lived up to the hype and some!

The whole time people were clapping and shit, and were laughing their asses off more than any comedy I've seen. Seriously the funniest movie I've seen in a while, without even really trying to be!

This was easily better than any movie leading up to it (including my previous favorite IRON MAN). Downey and Ruffalo, stars of the show. Special props to Hiddleston, too, who did a good job at selling Loki's menace--even though Loki is not a character I find that appealing or menacing in the incarnation being presented.

Ya I saw this yesterday as well and I agree completely.

For those that do not know. You can accredit this to Joss Whedon who wrote the script and directed. He was the man responsible for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV series) Angel, Firefly, Serenity etc... He got the short end of the stick both on Firefly and Serenity. Which are both a great series and a great film.
He deserved this film.

I also feel out of all the Marvel comic book Genre films this definitely ranks as one of the best if not the best.

And yeah that was Thanos. When he turned his head I started clapping like a fucking school boy and I was the only one. lol. Don't give one shit though, I fuckin nerded out.

Amillion times better than i expected. I am very, very impressed.
i completely agree. i haven't seen a movie this funny in idk how long. kept you laughing throughout the entire thing.
i was mainly joking about the spoiler, just how they were trying to hide it and give a "tha..." hint haha.

just got back from seeing it, definitely hilarious. agree with everything tricky said and more. new favorite movie and will absolutely be renting it from redbox and copying it on my computer as soon as it comes out.

That's the infinity gauntlet that thanos wields and destroys the marvel universe in one issue. I think avengers 2 will revolve around the infinity gauntlet story line. That shot of the glove is in odins trophy room on Asgard. When the frost giants broke into it. It was only shown for like 1/4 of a second

Avengers was kick ass. Had me laughing so damn much. When Hulk bitch whipped Loki into the ground over and over the whole theater was rolling. b) what spoilers are posted? really. only a few people know who Thanos is, and the infinity gauntlet scene was in Thor, so if you saw that then you had full opportunity to see the gauntlet. as i said, only ONE spoiler was posted in the entire thread that i found. and that wouldnt ruin the movie.

Well, I guess thats kinda what I'm getting at...considering what Thanos did in the comic, can they really throw everything that was tied into that story into a movie? That means you'll introduce EVERYTHING in one fell swoop...say hello to the Shi'ar empire, Skrulls, and Kree. While they're at it, will they throw Galactus in for shits and giggles? Captain Marvel too?

So with all that being said about how fucking great this movie is...Who are your predictions for new Super Heros for the sequel. I mean it has to be bigger and better, especially if the Infinity Gauntlet and Thanos are the villain.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but if Thanos is being introduced... DC needs to get off their ass and introduce Darksied and Doomsday. I'm tired to seeing Supes facing off against Luthor and other Kryptonians.

I just read an article on the possibility of seeing Spiderman, Wolverine or any other X-Men characters in any future Avengers movies. The odds are really slim. Before Marvel merged with Disney, they sold the movie licenses for the X-men to 21st Century Fox and the Spiderman franchise was sold to Sony. Disney would have to pay up BIG TIME to feature those characters. Not sure about the Fantastic Four though.

The only problem is that Fox had nothing to do with the original 3 Spiderman Movies. It's distributed by Columbia Pictures, which is a subsidiary of Sony, who still holds the licensing and rights to Spiderman. :smash:

He will NOT be making an appearance in any way in any subsequent Avengers movie. Neither will Daredevil, Blade, Ghost Rider, or any of the X-Men.

Nah, I'm feeling that idea. With Halle Berry's Catwoman, they had to totally reimagine the character for her and they screwed up big time. With Johansen's Black Widow, they've already got a winning formula. They just gotta insert her into a good storyline. I'd like to see her attempting to infiltrate Wakanda so they can introduce Black Panther and pull him into the team.

Bottom line, I think it's a bad idea to go too far into the recesses of the Sci-Fi universe here. If they don't have a human story that is earthbound, they risk losing a huge chunk of the casual audience that Avengers brought in. I mean, they need alot of heavy hitters to battle Thanos... but introducing them is gonna be dicey...

I just read that they're making a solo Black Widow movie. Scarlett Johansen is nice and all but why do I get the sinking feeling itll be whack like Hale Berry's Catwoman?

Female action leads are often weak.

It might be good if it's really a Hawkeye + BW movie just called BW for marketing. Tie in a few other characters, Luke Cage, Wasp or better yet Deadpol. (pending legal rights).

Deadpol would do well on his own movie I think.

A Hawkeye + BW project sounds cool. In fact, I've heard rumors of a S.H.E.I.L.D. movie. That might cover that base. But we still need to figure out some viable heavy hitters to help against Thanos since Xmen, F4 and Spidey are seemingly off limits right now.

As much as I love Black Panther, Luke Cage and Iron Fist... they're second stringers at best. Maybe even third string. Dr. Strange is a good pick. But what do you guys think about the Inhumans?

Sidnote: Back when the first X-Men movie by Bryan Singer came out, it got alot of praise for the way it handled the franchise & made it accessible for casual audiences. But in comparison to how Joss Whedon and the directors leading up to him from the tie in movies handled the Avengers franchise, Bryan Singer fucked the X-Men up royally. Characterization was all kinds of wrong. Kinda pisses me off, in retrospect...

Dunno how Xmen is going to work into this since cyplops and prof X was killed off. My marvel comic memory is hazey but I don't think that was supposed to happen.

A SHIELD or Hawkeye/Blackwidow movie sounds cool. Dr. Strange? as annoying as his speech is, that would still be awesome, haha.

Liam Neeson. Different universe, so it's ok if he's Ra's al Ghul and Doctor Strange.

And Thanos definitely had a reddish hue when I saw the movie. Didn't even realize it was supposed to be Thanos till I looked it up afterwards.

I feel like if he's gonna be the baddy they need either Silver Surfer or Adam Warlock in it.

Char would need a serious make over. Way to DC looking.

Hahahahaa.. ummm. Dr. Strange totally has a third leg in that pic. hahaha...

Adam Warlock and Silver Surfer are not the only ones who have defeated Thanos... if you read "Annihilation" it was Drax who killed Thanos.

Honestly even though Annihilation is way to deap of a story line and has tons of people... It would be a good basis to work off of. Yes, I know, Earths heros where not brought into this fight (other than a brief moment w/ Reed Richards) due to Civil War.

Ideally, it would have been nice if the X-Men franchise started with X-Men First Class, then some origin movies.

Especially Wolverine. I like hugh jackman and all but they need cgi, or fancy camera tricks... or something to do his fight scenes. Wolvie is supposed to be a badass hand to hand fighter.

Speaking of using same actor for Ras al ghul and Dr Strange, why the hell did they use the same guy for Capt America and Human torch?

cuz he fit the bill,.....and cuz human torch died off in the comics,....and cuz i doubt we're gonna get anymore fantastic 4 movies....lol

Can we mention Mark Ruffalo did a damn good Hulk?
Charaters are being picked very well... although I am not a fan of the new Captain America suit, mainly the mask looked bulky.

Cap's helmet did bug me too... But I loved the rest of the uniform, particularly the gloves.

I really don't think ppl were prepared for the caliber of perfomance Ruffalo brought to the Hulk. It was really damn good. Especially when you consider that the Hulk wasn't completely CGI. Ruffalo had to use one of those motion tracking suits and actually BE the Hulk before they overlaid more mass on him later. I don't think Bana and Norton went that far. But Whedon's pacing determining when to actually show us him Hulking out was a big part of the awesomeness.

Dammit. I now find myself wanting to watch this for a 3rd time...

Yes, I think Ruffalo has done the best, the scene in the cabin was great.

I hated Cap's uniform. I was really proud in CA:TFA about how they did his combat uniform. It looked "real" in the sense that someone could wear for actual functional reasons.

http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/110113/Captain-America_510.jpg

Its really a helmet and not a floppy hat.

If they just "had" to update his uniform, I think they would have been better to bring back the "Scales" and make him a total bad-ass brawler.

http://remingtons.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/captain-america-steve-rogers.jpg

I'm still displeased with the way Cap was portrayed in his first movie. Avengers was slightly better. I've always seen Cap as more of a fearless hard-ass then they are making him out to be.

This is the Cap I know and love - deflecting a freaking helicopter with his shield.

I agree that Ruffalo played a really good Bruce Banner/Hulk. There some scene where I thought he was super tense and ready to snap, only to keep his cool lol

I didn't mind the new Capt. uniform, more with the times (if that makes any sense). I also liked how he was portrayed in his first movie. The leadership persona tied in very well with his role throughout the Avengers movie.

I like the way Cap's personality was displayed in both movies. Of course, I want him to be the hard ass we all know from Ultimates, but I think he's the character we're getting to see the most developement from... From his very start to the soldier we saw at the end, he's grown tons... But still struggles a bit with feeling out of place. Once he truly comes to terms with his place in this new world, we'll probably see the gritty Cap we've been looking forward too.

And damn, Corbic... I liked the new uniform... But when you put them together like that, it really does look like a whole lot of crap.... lol

Duh! Huge undetectable cloaking system! the king of Wakanda would have that kind of tech, and would use it to protect his people. Why worry about the welfare of the 'first world countries' when they're in a constant state of war?

I WISH they used that in the movie, if T'Chala ever is portrayed.

Andy Serkis and it's rumored that he's playing Ulysses Klaw who happens to be Black Panther's main villain. Also with cap's broken shield shown in the trailer it probably is a tie in to Black Panther since the only place on Earth that vibranium is found is Wakanda which is his native country.
