View Full Version : HELP! Where to take wheels to be stripped?

Does anyone know/recommend in the LA/OC area where I could take a set of wheels to get the paint stripped from it?

I've tried several different brands of aircraft strip (Rustoleum, Mar Hyde Tal Strip II, etc) it burns my skin up, but barely softens the paint on there to scrape off. :picardfp: At the rate I'm going, I'll finish my set in 2015.

I'm trying to keep it cost efficient, thus trying to refinish them myself.

With that said, ANY input is appreciated. Thanks.

they're crown vic wheels I found on ebay for cheap. They'll be my spare set, so I dont want to spend a whole lot on them, but want them looking nice. They're refinished, and looks like it's painted, since below the paint looks to be primer. Whatever shit is on there, it's ON there. FML.

I've srsly tried to heat them up in front of a heater, in the sun, out the sun, in the garage, etc. You get the point...all no dice. The lips I can imagine I can get cleaned up, but the mesh will be impossible.

I'm looking for some sort of business that will put it in a bath or walnut shell or soda blast them. Heard sand may be too abrassive for aluminum alloy.
