Hi I have a 1989 nissan 240sx and I have ka-T. I made my goal of making 400 hp and right now the last thing is upgrading the steering for drifting.I just want to buy the best set up for the front steering. Right now I have tein monoflex coilovers in my s13 and cusco rear rucas, toe links and camber kits. Also I have solid bushings. Right now I have god speed front lower control arms and I hate them >=(. It is like I have no power steering in my car and worse than stock. I have to rev my car up to 3000 rpm to be able to make u turns. So I decided I wanna spend some quality money in quality parts. What do i need to do to get steering that turns quick and soft at idle? by the way, i also have tein inner and outer tie rod ends. Ok After doing so much research, I came up with these three companies that sell the best quality products for the best steering for drifting. Everything has been installed correctly in my car. I have green numbers last time I did my alignment. My tires never get worn out. It is just the damn front steering that suck bad!

I was interested in dmax more because I saw they actually cut the hub and sell front lower control arms and front tension rods all adjustable! Since I am planning to spend big money on these parts, I wanted to know you guy's comments on any of them. The main part that I need advice is the front lower control arms. I want the best steering that a 240sx can realistically get. Let me know what you think. comments are very much appreciated.

+++ here is another set up I just found and a video too.+++

Reving your car up to steer sounds more like a power steering issue than a problem with a lower control arm. I might want to check into that first.

Plus, and I know other people out there might not agree... but drifting is hard on parts. The most expensive "baller" parts will still wear out.

A lower control arm should not be giving you that much problems, I think there is something else wrong. But as an answer to your question I love PBM they are great. Ikeya is probably the best performance wise but is also very expensive and I don't feel they are really better than PBM. Then again I have never had Ikeya parts so not too much to compare.

^^^ditto. your power steering is going out if you have to rev/slip clutch to 3k to get your wheels to turn easier. As for the godspeed flca there is a way to make them much better. just google s13 godspeed flca mod

Ok thank you everyone on the reply. I changed my power steering pump, and rack and pinon and it is the same. It feels like the wheel itself is hard to turn. Looks like the bearings on the front lower control arms are wearing out because I hear squeeking when I turn my wheels from the arms. I do not have that much steering angle anyways so I guess an upgrade will be awesome at this point. Umm what do you guys think about the steering upgrade from powered by max?

The PBM stuff is great and what they are doing is great. I suggest you read more and learn a little more about steering and angle and what not before you just go slapping parts on your car. Unless you are having a knowledgeable shop do it for you.

If you are doing this yourself then you need to know everything you can about it, you will be much better for it.

There are several threads on this subject with both parts and experiences covered. The roll center thread would be a good place to start.

I see. I will definitely look at the threads for that. Since I been hearing good things from PBM, I feel more convinced to get the front lower control arms because they just came out with a new set of arms ordered by august 2011. But you are right thanks you for clearing things. Now i can focus on what I need to do on how to fix my steering in my car.

I already looked on the threads on center roll and I learned alot. I guess the last question is asking you guys about angle and lock to lock. Whats better. I don't know what you guys think there is a difference here. How much angle is enough? Here is a picture from kpi motors sports. they provide 1.75 turns lock to lock and 58 degrees angle. here is a little picture

powered by max offers 1.25 turns lock to lock and offer 56 degrees angle. here is a picture.

let me know what you guys think is better.

Your "lock to lock" figures are actually center to lock.

Max makes a good product, especially with their roll center mod.

Oh, and Driftworks makes drop knuckles that are bosss.
