need help with my s13

Hello all some what new to zilvia.net trolled around but never had to post anything till now recently I purchased a 1990 5speed 240sx hard top ran ok for about a month then about a week ago it overheated on me and now is making a noise from the engine to what I believe is rod knock? Or a spun bearing? Im not 100% on that because I've never actually thrown a rod or spun a bearing? Anyway would it be cheaper to take it to a shop and have them rebuild my motor or buy a new motor and swap it? Ill try and post a video later thank you in advance.

you sure its not the water pump that went bad? my water pump gave out and i heard nothing but metal on metal, thought the same thing you did, pulled the water pump and the bearing were done on my water pump replaced it and she is still running and quiet again.

Im not a hundred percent sure to be honest I just know its making a messed up noise and its running like sh*t I made a video and put it on youtube but for some reason there's no sound
