I'm running a Ka-t t25 setup with stock MAF and 370cc injectors. I'm trying to tune it but the SAFC doesn't seem to be working. When I adjust the NE1 point, nothing seems to happen. it won't bog when I put it at either extreme and my wideband is still telling me 14.8. Is the SAFC done for?

their is a stigma about safc's being garbage because the majority of people employ them wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy past their boundries. for fine and i mean FINE tuning they are acceptable. the reason is that they only control a:f and they do so by messing with the maf voltage. now if you have a stock motor w/ bolts and are running semi close to stock psi you will be fine (i.e. sr's or ka w/ bolt ons, in conjuction with a reflash), but when people try to use them as a band aid when they should be using stand alones...thats when they become junk.

I personally cant afford a standalone, nor do i wanna spend that much on my ka24e-t because its really not that serious of a build.. I mean its my first project car, built ka24e-t and t3/t4 turbo. I personally think SAFC 2 with a wide band is a cost effective way to tune. I personally haven't been able to get a wideband yet but i figure i can just tune better with my safc and wideband...
I personally thing the SAFC2 isnt garbage because before i had it my car didn't even really run... i had an e-prom tune, and the car ran like shit.. After i got the safc and looked and other peoples tunes with identical set ups as mine and made minor adjustments.. i still have alot more to do to the car.. But i really don't agree with it being considered useless, i don't think its worth buying it bran new. I fortunately found a unit basically bran new with the mounting hardware never opened and the instructions and all the paper work never taken out the guy just took out the unit and said his project fell through and couldn't finish it so he sold it to me for 160 bucks. good deal if you ask me, does not belong in the trash.. I'm sure people say its useless but i bet apexi would be able to give very good points on why this unit is not useless.
I too have 370 cc injectors im not sure if your sohc or dohc but if its not changing anything or changing the way the car is running at all make sure you have it wired up all correctly and a good solid connection with wires its spliced into.
Good luck !

Yep, you'll be singing a different tune after you blow it up. Do some research and learn something about the product you are going to use versus using fully programmable standalone. The SAFC isnt an ECU and should never be used as one. Fine you want to trim some fuel spots here and there, ok, but be warned, the way you plan on using it, you'll have a blow motor in no time.
Spend the money, get a ROM tune or whatever you KAE boys use for your setup and be done with it.

Im not really willing to spend 1200 for an ecu.. the most i would spend is maybe 700 to maybe 800. im currently jobless so my build is mainly on a budget at the moment. So right now the car has been sitting because i am wanting an even better tune but i dont plan on spending a fortune.

Hell Nistune boards are like 300+ install. You can get used PFC's for 600-800. Look around. SAFC's are garbage, dont find out the hard way.

Winner Winner
Chicken Dinner
Anything that maniplates MAF signal is for the birds if you ask me.
Used JWT or Enthalpy Boards are the same cost of an SAFC anymore, go that route!
