I also tend to procrastinate when it comes to school work. What I found out that works for me is to treat the work like it's something enjoyable to do. Writing is pretty easy because I try to get creative as possible. Math isn't easy to enjoy unless you like working with numbers like I do (Computer Science Major). :)

Good luck, do work you bum.

If you can write nine paragraphs within a couple hours then I don't see the problem as long as you get the work done. Some people write fast, others take days to write the same length. The important part is to make enough time for the amount of work you know you can handle. If it gets to the point where you are rushing to finish and making careless mistakes, you need to allow yourself more time.

One. Turn every electronic item off. Cell phones, music players, TVs, EVERYTHING.

Two. Focus on the task at hand, isolate yourself from distractions.

Three. Finish shit.

I'm the same way but that's the only way I can do my work. When a papers due the next day, I sit in front of my computer desktop, turn the music up, and the very first topic that pops into my head is what my paper ends up being. I usually get As or Bs but like I said that's the way I do my work. I tried the whole good student thing where you do your homework ahead of time but my grades declined. :-/

Because it's more fun...the rush is the best part lol, when I graduated high school...(I took advanced writing classes) I had never even started a paper until the day/night before it was due...I talked to my teachers and told them I wouldn't be turning in any rough drafts, and they were pretty cool about it, and then I would just turn it all in at once...lowest grade I ever got on a paper was a "B" lol.

9 paragraphs? That's cake.

My last semester (I graduated this past may) I completed a thesis that was all in all 34 pages.

Whenever I had something huge coming up (paper/midterm/final) I would break shit down into 4 days.

Day 1. Intro day, dont really get into detail with what I am doing.

Day 2. Start making progress on what is needed to be done

Day 3. Should be the day where just about the whole goal, whether it be studying or writing a paper should be done.

Day 4. The day that whatever I did the 4 days for is due. At this point you seriously should be done with what you needed to do and all that is left is to tie up some loose ends.

This 4 day system I developed worked for me 9 times out of 10. I started this method 2 years ago and I was able to raise my GPA from a 2.3 all the way up to a 3.7ish when I got my degree. I recommend others to try this method because it does not stress you out as much and is more of a gradual progression towards a goal. I compare it to a fighter preparing for a fight and reaching my peak (so to speak) at the perfect time.

Some of my best papers are written under pressure (usually 4-8 page papers, and I do them the night before). Makes things more interesting and makes you focus better. Plus, paragraphs is beyond cake! You got it!

or what search engine you use.... :yum::yum::yum:

When it came to writing long papers/assignements for school i would always start on the day it was handed out or the next day, then i would have some understanding.. then if i was to get lazy i atleast had a good base when i wasnt in Super rush mode..

I notice if your rushing you may think of Awesome idea's but because time isnt on your side you cant take the risk and make use of them by having to re-write, giving yourself some extra leeway can give you some good results if you decide to change your mind!

I like to find an empty classroom on campus and just type away on the laptop. Hell, I've done this like at 3AM. lol

I always do this, and i don't know anyone that doesn't do this. It is a proven fact(least i was told by my professors) that most students get good grades on papers/assignments that were done last minute. I guess you tend to work, elaborate, describe yourself better when one is under pressure. I personally put most of my stuff to last minute, but when it comes to midterm or final exams oh you bet i start studying way before.

Just do what you got do man,and especially don't fail a class cause you ended up putting shit to last minute. The work ain't hard, the hard part is getting the shit done.

I find it really hard too. the anxiety at times is unbearable.

I just try to do my paper at the school computer lab. that way I can't be distracted by garbage like watching porn, video games, yelp (have no trouble at all writing restaurant reviews), or bullshitting on zilvia.

Also if you can, start by doing a rough outline IN PAPER, in some secluded spot (I like the shitter). Idea is to isolate yourself from distractions. Outline will provide you with the structure of paper. Filling in the details is a lot easier than writing from scratch.

Reflection papers aren't too bad. It's just bullshitting, and no research really. I just wrote one (2-page double spaced, for psychology master's class) in about an hour yesterday. You can be entirely phoney, tell the teacher what they want to here, as long as you're not insulting their intelligence too much.

I find that listening to music is super helpful too. It usually helps me concentrate, and makes the affair a bit easier. It keeps my motivation level up. Work-out music I find works best (whatever it may be for you).

I usually
-type all my random thoughts on what i have to write about into sentence to paragraph lengths as soon as i get the assignment
-the next day add more random thoughts since you've had all night to sleep on it
-next day study and add remaining thoughts and organize thoughts into order you want in your paper.
-day after i just do some expanding on the thoughts and cite shit.
-then before i turn it in all i have to do is spell check.

the paper is done and i haven't really done any work.

not alone, I've got 5 pages of a lab report to do (plus figures and tables). A lot of my distraction has been playing with the statistical analysis though, trying to reteach the software to myself.

I've got a pretty solid schedule on how to have it ready by monday morning. Most important thing is that you know what you need to finish, and how you're gonna do it.
