Hey guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. One of our members on NewCelica.org said this was a good place to learn about the 240.
I’m deciding whether to sell my Celica for a 240 and thought I should learn more about them before I decide on what to do.
Here’s my story:
I recently misshifted my ride:

My ride is still at the dealership and maybe it is time to move on…well, either way, hope to get to know everyone better and all

if u're really going to make the jump from a celica to a 240, i gotta warn ya. based on what i read off the site you linked... well... the jump from fwd to rwd is a bit of change. don't go pushing ur limits or u'll end up in a ditch really fast. also plz remember that the 240 is not a new car, and even the most recent ones are half a decade old. thrash it and it will bite you in the ass without proper and regular maintenance. i don't know how you grabbed second from a redline in 3rd, but i've never driven a celica before. i do know its not neccesary to shift hard to shift fast. good luck with whatever you end up doing.
btw i think its best if you simply told the honest truth to the dealership. act really humble, tell em your a noob driver or something. if you try to cover anything up, they WILL know. you're average driver isn't going to explode the tranny even if the shift gates are close together.

Thanks…glad to be here.
I will make sure to research the ride before my decision.
I’m usually cautious and don’t push the ride hard…but this time, I reacted before I thought and I put myself in this position.
There have been mis-shifts w/the Celica and I am not the 1st. But I do take full responsibility for my mistakes as the majority have never mis-shifted.
I talked with my Service Tech at Toyota and its been there being torn apart and rebuilt. I took the advice of NC members and took all my aftermarket parts out, told the truth, and everything seems to be going well. Hopefully things will turn for the better and I will learn from this

As aznpoopy said this car is not like the celica in anyway except for the fact that its a five speed. in your case though yours comes in a six speed. This car is not something to mess with unless you know what a RWD vehicle can do. This car is very unpredictable if you don't know what the boundries of this vehicle are or your skills. Not saying you have no skills. I understand you feel bad about misshifting from third to second. This car is anywhere from 14 years old to 7 years old. Treat these cars with care if you get one. For the rest of us like the 240 and don't want to see another one hit the scrap yard. Good luck on the Celica and good luck with your seach.
