If you don't have any experience, or the tools to do it, then I wouldn't recommend swapping it yourself. What dealership do you work at?
As far as modification, I think the engine fits in fine, without changing anything. You can also use the stock ds and diff. And I can't see why you would have to lengthen the harness. The only reason I can think of is because the ECU would be located on the other side of the car when compared to where it was mounted in the Silvia.

S14 to S14 is totally different from S13 to S13, or any other swap. With the S14 to S14 swap, you have to rearrange the pins in the M63 (I think) 48 pin connector under the dash by the ECU. There isn't a lot of documentation in doing this yet, so it isn't something I would recommend the average person to do. If they're quoting you $800, I would ask if they've done a S14 SR into a S14 before.

i work at Ray Skillman. the machanic knows about everything about the average motors but i'm not sure if i was wanting him to attempt it if there were problems.

research and find the austrailian FSM for the s14 motor and start comparing the pinouts to the USDM factory S14 FSM.
-the original website that use to have the FSM went down, I know some others have it hosted - search here and www.freshalloy.com

hmmm... my swap + auto to manual cost about 1.5k....800 bux to swap in an s14 sr is a bit cheap and i would have doubts in quality of labor for that kind of price...

why don't you just take the engine out at your shop on a sunday or something and drop the SR in, and then have HeavyThrottle do the conversions on the SR and KA harness (250$ I think) and then just install the new haress and troubleshoot from there....might be over simplfing it a bit but oh well....

I paid $700 plus my ka engine/tranny to have my s14 sr installed into my s14. And yes the installer had wiring problems. Not alot of info. on the subject.
