As some of you know I'm an unemployed/underemployed programmer/techie. I have been toying with the idea of tuning ecu's in my underutilized free time. Unfortunately this isn't an inexpensive venture as you need a wideband o2 rig, datalogger / scan tool, prom burner, dyno time, etc.

A generic performance chip goes for $400 - $600. I was thinking about charging <$200. Just enough to cover the price of the daughter board, eproms, 40pin header, and $20 - $50 profit to cover the expense of buying the equipment.

Right now I'm pretty sure I could modify programs for different AFMS, injectors, rpm and speed cut-off elimination, and mild tuning. I think I should also be able to clone tuned ecus (though I'm not sure about the legalities of doing so, however I doubt any of the tuners out ther are licensed by Nissan to be mucking with their code, that whole DMCA thing).

If anyone in the CT,MA, or NH area wanted to buy dyno time I'd do it even cheaper just for the tuning experience.

How many of you are interested? What engine, trany do you have? How much are you willing to pay?

(If anyone has .bin files from ka engines I'd be really interesting in taking look at them especially if they come from a jdm tuner.)
