The difference between the two is that the HKB hub has a universal pattern meaning it will support the momo pattern along with the Nardi pattern. Basically that hub will fit most any aftermarket steering wheel that requires a hub. The Nismo hub is a Nardi ony pattern, which is the same pattern Nismo happens to use. I say go with the HKB, having the extra universal-ness is nice.

would the universal-ness of the hkb hub make it so that the wheels dont fit as good? for example will the nardi wheel fit better with the nismo one because its specifically for it? or will it be the same?

should fit like a glove with the hkb.
My HKB fits well... for what I paid. (<$30)
Finish of the hkb however, will not match the nismo, nardi or momo hubs. The HKB hubs are a little... cheap feeling/looking, but that may or may not be a factor to consider.
FWIW, my hkb is also stuck to my steering column; for some reason I just cant yank it off, even when I tap it with a hammer.

hmm.. i might just go with the nismo one then. i dont plan on getting a momo steering wheel and the price is about the same for both hubs since i have an s14. =P

I just bought my HKB hub for $40. I haven't installed it yet, but the universal pattern is a really good thing to have. For me it's good because the quick release I bought uses a Momo pattern and a univeral steering wheel mounting face. I'm gonna be using a Nardi steering wheel, but if I ever decide to stop using the quick release, I'd need to get a new hub. Thanks to the Universal pattern... I'll never have that problem.
I must admit, the HKB hub doesn't seem like the highest quality on it's exterior. However, unless you're very picky it's not a big deal. It'll work and everything including the horn seems to be plug n' play.
BTW... the Tomei blue is an awesome choice.
