when you buy a vehicle thats not from cali the dmv inspects the motor and writes down all vin#'s its a big ass hassle, i took it to the dmv with the sr20det i had no idea they were going to pop my hood and check everything was legit and i passed still a risky move..

Hello all, just checking in to see if I can answer any questions.
Regarding the DMV process, the car was actually registered in CA when I purchased it, so the sticker under the hood states that it meets US and California emission standards. That will likely make the inspection easier; however, I agree that if the DMV inspector took issue with the chassis and engine VINs not matching, they may inquire about it. Realistically, there are probably a few good reasons why someone might replace an older engine.
Unfortunately, I haven't been through this process, but if anyone else has experience, I would welcome any input.
Thanks all,
Jud
