hi again, so the cold start issue ive been having went away for little, but came back, im having trouble starting my ride first thing in the morning. I go to start it, it starts for about a quick sec then dies, it takes about three tries to get it stay on. Once on it sputters, i take the air filter off and that corrects the idle. another problem is that when i let go of the throttle i notice smoke from the tailpipe, and i know for a fact its not the head gasket. Ive taken the spark plugs out and they seem to be black and sooty. If the car was running rich because of the filter wouldnt the spark plugs be kind of wet with fuel. idk im not an advanced mechanic. anyone with expertise or knowledge please help me out. i know im getting pressure from the fuel pump, egr valve works, im getting spark from all the sparkplugs. would it be the fuel pressure regulator? i need to pass smog and in know i wont pass like this, please help.

Check the coolant temp switch. I had the same problem with mine until I replaced it.

pop the rail off and see if any of the injectors are leaking

Check the knock sensor/ o2 sensor/coolent sensor, are any codes showing up?
