View Full Version : coilovers set at same height, but right side sits higher?
hey,
i installed my coilovers (used but good shape) and set them at the same height. same number of turns on both. when i mounted them and took the car down, i noticed that the right side (passenger) sits higher.
why is this? could this be caused by corner balancing? would it be ok to give the right side coilovers more turns in order to get the same ride height? the difference is about 1 1/2 finger gap. front and rear
thanks

Again, this is normal with S13's. One of my sides is about a finger difference in gap, and I have the same lowering spring + shock combo.
edit: front and rear??? hmm that seems odd, im strictly talking about the rear... Did you check the carfax on the VIN number? Check for previous accidents?

yeah. but it has a bigger difference on the rear. i don't mind the front too much. i will try to get things leveled giving the passenger coilover a bit more turns. would this be all right?
i have Tein HA coilovers

There might be the possibility that your coilovers aren't in as good of shape as you may think.

Were the springs pre-loaded before your lowered them.? If one side is pre-loaded and the others not, it could look like your even when your adjusting them, but one side would be lower than the other.
i really don't know. i guess not. how can i check? what is the procedure to pre-load them?
that would really help! thanks!

Are you adjusting your ride height with the "spring" or "this"? Sorry for the "this" thing, couldn't remember what it was called off the top of my head lol.
What do you mean? Im just adjusting the ride height turning the coilover collar.

If that's how you're adjusting them, your all wrong. All your doing is preloading your coilovers, not adjusting the ride height. Unless they were already lowered all the way down, then pre-loading them would allow you to go lower. The part i labled "thing" is what you use to adjust ride height. Take off the 2 bolt (front) or the 1 bolt (rear) from the the control arm and spin it (lefty loosy, righty tighty) until you reach a desired height. All your doing is pre=loading your springs man, not adjusting your height. 100% sure that's why it's uneven.
Aaahhhhhh i get it man? Now i understand! I Will try this tomorrow and see what happens!
I Will adjust the pre-load and set them at the same level, them i Will turn the Whoie bottom assembly where the screws are!
