I am changing my wheel bearing hub and have run into a problem.

I have the size 34 socket, I pb blastered the nut and I still cant get that nut off! Is it supposed to be bent like that in the very center? I am using a breaker bar and its still not budging.

Anyone have any ideas? and is the center supposed to be bent like that.

Thanks for your help.

the front wheel bearings don't use the cotter pin set up to secure the lock nut. the lock nut is simply "pinched" onto the bolt. so what you see is totally normal. if you can try unpinch (for lack of a better term) the nut a little before removing. just be sure to re-pinch but don't get all crazy and damage the center bolt lol. and yeah an impact gun or breaker bar should do the trick. just get the right leverage on it and you'll be able to crack it loose.

I just broke mine.... now I have to get another one tomorrow.

I had my wheel bearing replaced like 8 years ago from a mechanic and looks like he "pinched" it too much. I have to do more chiseling tomorrow to "un pinch" it.

Damn that sucks. I'm glad my s13 uses cotter pins, that "pinch" method looks like bs.

from the pic it looks like there is a lock plate right in front of the bolt you gotta pull it off it keeps the bolt locked in place. just what it looks like to me. i could be wrong but id see... its just a thin metal plate it has a flat edge to keep from turning.

My friends and I were unable to undo that nut. It was pinched way too hard. I had to take it to a shop which charged me 110 bucks for labor when they finished it in like 45 minutes. They told me the nut was pinched too hard and had to cut it away.

Anyways thanks everyone for your help! Appreciate it! Have a great 4th of July weekend.

Dude are you sure your not tightening it? I usually use a small pipe and it works like a charm. I recently changed it too.

Yes, I am not a complete noob. I do all my own repairs and maintenance.
