sr20det fwd to rwd? To mount in a 240...

I'm thinking about buying a 240sx chasis with a sr20det from a bluebird u12 on the side. I've looked around in the internet but everybody says its not possible. Why can i just take the trans-axle off and mount a transmission? Do they have different bolt pattern? Thanks for any help!

engine mounts on the engine block are different

That, and heavy fabrication are required. The intake manifold will point the wrong way, and the distributor will be inside the firewall.
