The value of the Supra isn't the result of the movie, although to me it makes little sense why they are worth as much as they are.

P.s. A 6th movie is the obvious marketing move, and I'm glad that's the case.

they should make a sequel every year & just cash in & appease their fans.

I will go see it for the shear entertainment. Nothing more than chewing gum for the brain. Nothing more expected out of it. I will also catch it on the bargain matinee.

Oh and yes I agree with a previous posters comments it sure does look like a Micheal Bay is directing. As he is the king of blowing everything up here in Hollywood.

Oh and and the Chargers comment , Dom has always loved his Chargers no matter what else he has driven.

Riiight. That's why I've only seen 1 & 3, and I only seen the 3rd one cause it was on youtube a long while back and it was a slow day at work.

Literally 10 mins after I watched the movie youtube took the movie down.

I've had no desire to watch any of the movies after the first one that I witnessed. Most people say that the first one is the best out of series so I don't see me missing anything by bypassing all the others.

it looks watchable if there's nothing better to do..
1. I hope they don't use s13's ever again because they would probly wreck it and thats just a whole other crop of dumbasses that will want to buy one, rice it out and drift it into a wall.

2. I wish they would stop destroying all those muscle cars, It's one thing to fuck up a car thats still in production, but damn those old cars are getting rarer every day, same with the s13's... It's cool to see them in movies, but not when they're getting run over by a tank or flipped over a semi or used as a battering ram or jumped onto a boat...

No shit right... I thought the same thing. Just straying more and more from the old "car" style the first couple were. Hell even Fast 5 didn't show the race they won the Porsche and what ever else they "won" Looks to be a good action film none the less.

You were what, 11 years old when it came out? For those of us who were part of the car scene at that time know that movie made the import scene explode across the country. Back when NOPI had their national tour and racing series going, it was an incredibly fun time in the import scene.

I wouldn't expect the current younger crowd to appreciate the first movie as much as the rest of us.

Wait people actually enjoy these movies? I thought they were import comedy? The first one was a joke just like the rest. It was all ricer. Lets see 2001, I was 16 when that movie came out(probably was one of the very few who had a s13 in the parking lot in that honda, mitsu, talon era). I don't understand what there was to appreciate? I actually left thinking that they were mocking the "ricer" mentality. It made the import scene explode with cheap junk shit parts. Erebuni, extreme dimensions, black widow, how can I forget APC lol. What about the classic "altezza tails". I know I'm forgetting a few more. Come on man......lets come to real life here. When mustangs are putting on metal spoilers, GTR badges, bodykits and fart cannon mufflers, something has gone seriously wrong.

The import scene today is 10x better than it was then. Another thing that helped is when the wrx/sti and evo's got brought over. The import scene started to get more cars that actual good companies supported and showed examples of clean done right cars (that had a racing back ground). It just took a while to catch on (new cars are expensive). I think drifting also helped the "quality parts" side of things because it was basically 100% Japanese influence. With companies like JUN, Bee* R, HKS, Signal, Top Secret etc making drift cars, it got there names into the American eye. People would see what products they were using. Those movies did nothing but negative impact. The nopi and hot import nights car shows were overly riced out man. The best part half the time was the scantily clad women walking around. There was maybe 1/4(if that) clean done right cars at those shows. The rest were obnoxious kits, street glow, diamond plate, nitrous foggers lol, custom car audio, tacky ass custom leather interiors and chrome wheels.

Maybe I just saw things differently.

AFSil80

Re-read what I said. I said it was an incredibly fun time, and that's true. NOPI dumping tons of money BACK into the industry by putting on shows and a race series. What company has the capital to do that these days? Import Faceoff is the closest thing I can come up with, but even they aren't on the same level.

There's one thing that's not true in your post, and that's the part about drifting encouraging people to buy quality parts. You bag on companies like Black Widow (and I don't blame you) but you fail to mention how the majority of the drift kids are all about knockoff aero, wheels and cheap shit suspension parts, but because they trash their cars, it's accepted. In my eyes, knockoff is knockoff. I personally think the scene sucks today compared to how it used to be. More posers than ever.

Anyways, I never said I took the movie seriously. I just said it made the scene explode. Granted, when the import scene blew up, it created the market for cheap parts because let's face it, the majority of people in the import scene are teens/young 20's and the income ain't necessarily there. It's whatever though. Different strokes for different folks. I found the APC ricers a helluva lot more enthusiastic than these pussy stance kids that flood the scene today.

Wow I can't wait to see this. I am not like a hardcore fanboy, but I do enjoy these movies for what they are (Entertainment, you know, shit you pay for to keep yourself occupied for a few hours). I think we are all old enough to understand that they will not try and execute the most dangerous shit in real life all of the time or even most of the time. I understood this from when the first one came out when I was 9. I'm not a freakin genius either, so stop acting so dense.

It's a movie, it has action scenes with computer editing in everything. ErmaGerd this is fucking news to me. Sure there are plenty of older movies that have almost no editing(I am not sure about this), such as that 9 minute scene from Bullit.

The people who bitch about how unreal it is are more fun to laugh at than the crazy shit from the movies.

Anyyyywayyyy, I am really excited for this movie. The second one was too damn flashy but they are all entertaining movies which is why I have them all on DVD. One of these upcoming weekends after finals, I will be having my usual "Grill/Play videogames all night" sessions with my friends. You can only do so much with a movie about street racing and cars. FNF1 had a lot of air time with the "street racing" and girls. All the cars are involved in the chase and action scenes. I think these heist plot makes it more interesting.

Yea, movie was entertaining but lacking. True, they need more action than just street racing cars. They need to at least put cars in the movie besides high end. I seen an M5, lots of SRT-8's, porshe, lambo, GT-R, aston, ferrari, but nothing that makes you feel like part of the scene like part 1 and 3 did. I could relate to those cars. Lets see what 7 will have to offer.

Word. I'm really looking forward to the next one. Sometimes I feel like I the only one who liked Tokyo Drift, so I'm looking forward to seeing the Sean Boswell & Neela characters again. I think that would be interesting to interject those characters into the Torretto/O'Conner family dynamic.

But Justin Lin has been in control of the franchise since Tokyo Drift. Him leaving the director's seat for the next film makes me slightly nervous.

Why is this so hard to understand. Parts 4, 5 & 6 are all prequels to Tokyo Drift. Tokyo Drift takes place in between the end of part 6 & part 6's teaser scene. Makes sense then. Han only dies once.

It explains why Dom was at the end of Tokyo Drift, meeting Sean Boswell, Han's protege. They will probably hook up with Sean's crew to get revenge on Han's killer and uncover why the hell Han's rich ass was even running around pulling scams with DK's two bit ass in the first place.

Spoiler: I'm guessing that the guy that killed Han is the person that was employing Shaw to steal the satellite parts. He was probably pretty pissed at Dom & the crew's interference. I wouldn't be surprised if we see DK again as well, to shed some light on his business dealings with Han. Or maybe Sean already knows all that shit since he was their gopher...

Makes sense with the accent and all.

I thought Tokyo Drift was better than 1, 2 & 4. It still had the connection to the street level demographic that the films later movies have been missing as they transition to more high end cars & relatively serious plot lines rather than the attainable street cars the franchise was built on a& street racing just for the sake of street racing. I did enjoy Tokyo Drift, but I also do think the franchise has gone in the right direction. But if the Tokyo Drift crew is brought back, that might give some ppl the back to the roots nod that they were hoping for.

Saw it twice (once with a friend, another time with my younger brother)

Both times the general audience didnt appear to be car enthusiasts, they seemed to enjoy themselves

I'd like to comment on 2 things

1. There really aren't that many car enthusiasts in the general population. Therefore, the director(s) try to keep it more action oriented/storyline based rather than documenting how to modify cars. The fourth one had a scene where Brian and Dom are working on their own cars, but that's just to tell the audience that they are getting ready for a race, not so much "Look at me dialing my cams in guys, GUISEEEEEE!"

2. I understand how people are joking about the runway scene, even the actors did in their respective interviews. Someone else made an intelligent comment elsewhere that I'd like to repeat.

Showing 4 minutes of what happened under the left wing + 4 minutes of what happened under the right wing + 7 minutes of a fight scene inside DOES NOT equal 15 minutes of the plane being on the runway.

I think people take shit too literally or maybe I'm just getting old. I don't know man. Simplest way I can put it is

$10 per person to be entertained for 2.5 hours = money well spent. I wouldn't mind seeing it again (other friends want to see it)

It really seems that way. That's good because if the series were told in chronological order, Tokyo Drift would really slow the franchise's momentum down. It was perfect just where they put it.

Personally, I hope that FNF7's opening scene picks up right from where Tokyo Drift left off...

I kinda saw it the other way. She seems to go into the car a little bit, maybe to help the driver or look for a person in the back seat. Also, looking at the Fast 6 scene, you see the "villian" leave the door just enough to get out (Not pushed out all the way) and then it's wide open as you see him walking towards Han but in the tokyo drift one, the bystander seems to open it somewhat. She also seems to grab onto someone's shoulder.

Tokyo drift
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zml7qQpL8Yo

Fast 6 end credits

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh4wAZfy_F0

Why the fuck doesn't Sean see him throw the necklace/chain/swagger bling right in front of Han's car? In the tokyo drift version you can't really see anyone walking away from the explosion all cool and stuff. I mean Sean gets his ass pushed back from it and Senor Statham is like "nah, too cool for physics and shit"

I can't really tell and I don't care to think about it any further. It's probably one of those things that the movie company wants you to accept as what happened. Do you think they went through all that trouble to make an intro for another movie that'll make them millions of doll hairs? Do you think that it was there all along?

Now that I think about it, not one of the Fast and Furious movies had a definite ending to the movie.

First one- Homie hands his keys to the supra and looks all dramatic while Dom drives away. Then they show Dom in Mexico or some shit livin life a quarter mile at a time. I don't remember if they showed the prelude to 2Bros2Furious here too.

Second one- Apparently Blondie and Negrodamus are starting a garage together with all their stolen drug money. Somehow Brian ends up being a cop back in LA in the beginning of the Fourth one.

Tokyo Drift- Ermagerd Drift Race in a parking garage. Apparently cops don't give a fuck about it since they can't do better than 180k.

Fourth one- Lol Jailbreak time bitches. Evil smile, Weesnaw!

Fast Five- Damn Eva Mendez still got a nice badonkadonk. She said some shit about Ghosts.

Fast 6- Ermagerd Jason Statham lets all splooge our pants and not listen to what the hell he is saying. I've never seen Dominic Torretto use a cellphone. Maybe when he called up Braga in the fourth one to set up a deal?

I think I should stop seeing this movie and continue on my 240. Sorry for the wall of text.

The chick getting hit by the car and getting up with ease was a bit of a stretch. Girls in London were not appealing at all and all the high-end cars was a different direction then I'm use to seeing with the past movies. The scene before the credits was awesome, just wish I heard what he said...too many damn people talking in the theater . :/

"Dominic Torretto... You don't know me, but you're about to."

I just rewatched it again tonight. At the final BBQ once everything is over, Han tells Ludacris & Tyrese that he's heading to Japan. Luda says very clearly "We got your back, no matter what. Just call."

I'm guessing they'll be back for part 7 as well.

whatever happened to Dom's FD that he parked in that garage to dodge the cops?

I actually wonder about that too. Aside from the sound system and neon lights, that was my favorite car in the movie.

Watched it a few weeks ago. Loved it. Theater wholly enjoyed it, everyone was laughing throughout. The best suspend-disbelief-popcorn series, and I hope it never dies. The unbelievable parts is what makes this franchise so bad that its good, that and cars have been a part of it since its inception. :D

i'm high school buddies with Paul Walker's little brother. After Paul died he filled in for the scenes they needed to finish the movie. He's a great dude and Paul was always super nice too. It's a tragedy that Paul died. I haven't seen any of the films since 2, but i'll definitely see this one out of respect for Paul. The first one really was a guilty pleasure of every car guy of our generation.

If my memory serves me correct didn't the director of drift also direct 4-6? He really took the franchise in a much more "mature" direction. And I use the term mature very loosely when dealing with this franchise.

Yep. Justin Lin took over with Tokyo Drift & you can tell actual enthusiasts were involved with just about every element of that movie so it featured a much higher degree of technical accuracy in regard to car talk versus the first movie.

He also matured the series by taking it to more of a typical action movie route rather than alienating potential audiences who just give ZERO fucks about street racers.

Now they're pretty much just action movies that feature a lot of cool cars. But it does disturb me that Justin Lin, the savior of the series, is no longer involved with its development. But it'll have a solid month of so to make it's money before Avengers 2 drops & crushes everything else in theaters.

Exactly how I feel. I don't see how car people are even remotely entertained lol. Its so cheesy, yet they try to act so real. It's like a movie equivalent of a wigger. Not to mention, the shit is so damn unrealistic, that its not entertaining at all. But when you look at the entertainment industry as a whole, I guess douchebaggery is the new in thing. Seems like its been this way since 2000.

Where else can you see the Rock break open a cast by flexing his biceps, take out a modified Predator drone by driving an ambulance van off a bridge and crashing into it, then ripping the machine gun off of it to take out a helicopter piloted by Nigerian terrorist lord?

My only complaint, not enough Race wars and Hector!

Yeah looked like a segway for that Tokyo Drift lead to be in 8 and possibly moving forward.

Levy Tran at Race Wars =)

Enjoyed how they retired Paul Walker's character with a Supra (throwback from first film) and in white to signify an angelic aura. Ending went pretty appropriately.
