Hey Guys,

Having a bit of an issue with my RB25. I just picked it up from the shop after getting my A/C custom installed into my s14 w/ RB25. Everything's cool air blows really cold now, but I'm having an issue what feels like my car is bogging or stuttering now. It's more noticeable when the AC is on, but when it's off the car feels like it has no pull....I know they say you sacrifice some power for comfort with AC but this is night/day difference haha.

What do you guys think it could be?

RB25 (Rebuilt w/ stock internals)
Stock Turbo
Greddy IM
FMIC
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Aeromotive FPR

Thanks guys.

A/C Idle up solenoid is probably not wired up. Its the purple plug on the IACV

The IACV-FICD right? I have the purple plugged wired and hooked up, the RPM's raise when the A/C is on.

When i drive the car it seems to hesitate or sputter as if it had power, lost it for a second then regained it, lost it and regained it (hope that makes sense). I am accelerating the same amount it just feels as it cuts out and comes back in.

Could that be compressor turning on then off on then off that rapidly? I didn't think it would cycle that much or that often.

I did notice however it does appear like it is leaking freon from one of the welds they did....

Any input would be appreciated..

Thanks.

sounds like its turning on and off then.

Need to check the freon level, if its low then it will turn on and off

Thats exactly what i was thinking...
The guys at the shop said some shit like it gets hot and then shuts off...

Would you happen to know around what PSI the freon should be around? I do have a smaller condenser so i know it may be a bit different, just wanted to get in a ballpark range. I'm almost positive these guys didn't do a leak test or a PSi test and this is why it's shutting on and off...Plus its leaking from a pinhole so that could be the cause of it cycling on and off then a

have a shop check the level.

and yeah if you got a leak that will mess up the system

they installed a closed unit AC and didnt do a leak test? You should have never taken the car back until they verified everything was working. Take it back and and make them fix it dude, its definitely a leak since its cycling on and off like that. When it tries to pressurize that system, it faults since there is a pressure drop.

Yes, exactly!
It is at the shop as we speak. I went back there and made sure they fix the leak. They did say they pressure tested it, and they also said that if the compressor gets too hot, it shuts off. I do not have a fan on my condenser yet, so that could be the problem as well.

You don't think my condenser is too small for my application do you?

I doubt if you'd require a larger condenser but after the freon exits the compressor it becomes very hot and its needs a fan to cool it properly before it reaches the evaporator in the dash, so definately get a fan on there dude
