Okay so before you guys tell me to search on "how to bleed lifters" im actually aware of how to do it lol.. i actually just need to know if there's an easier way of removing them because im afraid im going to mess things up when i remove the camshaft. I read somewhere on here that all you gotta do is remove the tensioner and then ziptie the chain to the cams and when i pull the camshaft out i just gotta hang it up on a bungee cord or something? Is there any other way i can get to the lifters without me messing up my timing and misaligning the chain links .. ?

The easiest way would be to do marks on you chain according to the marks there is on your cam gear. Put your engine on TDC and do your marks. After that, reallign everything!

This thread is more about how to do timing than how to bleed your lifters.
lol
Set motor at TDC.
On the cam sprocket there is a little punch mark.
Clean the chain link that is touching that punch mark and mark the chain link with a sharpie.
Continue to take the cams and stuff out.
lay the chain to the right and ziptie it to something.
take the lifters out and bleed.
Then reassembleeeeee. :D

Okay that seems easy enough. The punch marks align with the gold links right? is that the one that you're talking about to mark with a sharpie? Am i suppose to keep tension on the chain when i ziptie it to somethin after i pull the cams out? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to be sure cuz ive never done any work on the head. thanks

Zip tie them together after setting the crank at TDC and the exhaust cam has a pin on it should be pointing straight up, and the dot on the sprocket face should be about 1 o'clock. You'll need to get a 24mm socket and a screw driver or a 1/4 extension and slip it through the right side hole of the sprocket and loosen the camshaft bolts like that. To tighten they need to be at 100 ft lbs of torque when you put them back on and threads need to be oiled on the bolts. Camshaft caps are only at 8-10 ft lbs though, be careful not to strip threads.

Couldn't I just take the cams out with the cam sprocket as one whole piece instead of doing as stated above?

^ yup! That's how I always do it. Besides, the front cover has little "fingers" that keep the chain on the crank sprocket when there isn't tension on the chain. No matter how hard you try, you cannot get it to skip a tooth on the bottom sprocket. Trust me, I've taken apart my SR many times and tested this idea. Just make sure you have the motor at TDC. If you have the patients, spin the crank as many times as it takes, with the tensioner still installed, to get the silver links lined up on the sprockets; you shouldn't be able to mess it up after that.

Yes! thats exactly what I needed to know. I was worried that when I take tension off the chain, that it would skip a tooth or something. So after I get to TDC with everything lined up and take the tension off, I can just place the chain down when the cams are out? Good lookin out man. I'm gonna do this when I go home later this week.
