I said clean in the title, but with how rare KA-T's are just post whatever. So long as its KA-T and not awful i just wanted this thread to match the titles of my other threads lol

here is a dyno pull on 8psi with a 10.2:1 AFR. made 240rwhp. After fixing the AFR and adding 2psi, it made right at 300rwhp.

Honestly, No idea. Car was never dyno'd on this setup. I just ordered a GT2871R with .86AR and it will be dyno tuned after that is installed.

basically arias pistons,eagle rods, and a bran new stock head. t3/t4 turbo kit from cx racing, f1 flywheel/clutch, 255 lph fuel pump, 370cc injectors, cheap FPR, safc II, eprom chip, oil cooler. thats all i can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

Also any one that wants to give me pointers let me know cuz this car has been sitting for 3 years now and has maybe only been driven 50 miles. i cant seem to get my timming well, the car has torque but no top end i can get through the gears but i cant get up to speed at all and if it chain timming im really not into messing with it.. but if its ignition timming ill mess with it some more.

293whp/310tq at 12 psi, ran out of fuel and blew ringlands on the dyno. New setup coming soon, I'll post pictures once it's all together. It's going to be a bottom mount t2 manifold flipped and braced so it will work as a top mount.

even though my ka-t isint that impressive, i feel like im helping the ka-t community.. i wish i could moderate just this thread so i could fix it and clean it down the road.. i would love that haha..

brothers car is having some sort of spark issue and is hesitating/breaking up at 4000 rpm. but he is making ~270hp and ~320 tq before it breaks up at 10psi. once they get it figured out hes gonna bump it up to 16-18 psi. shooting for like 350 wheel.

Sure did... if you look up my posts I made a "write up" in one of psms HMIC threads about what all I had to do to make it work. Basically I made my own manual popups.

T25 = too small for that.

Lets not get too far off topic here, but I made 300/300 on my redtop sr20 with stock maf and injectors. I don't see it being too hard on a KA. The turbo just wont last very long.

Lets not get too far off topic here, but I made 300/300 on my redtop sr20 with stock maf and injectors. I don't see it being too hard on a KA. The turbo just wont last very long.The .4L makes a difference, the T25 runs out of breathe on the KA in higher rpms. I wouldn't want to run a T25 on a KA over 6-7psi.

It's all in the tune really. I got my car with 72k on it. Turbocharged it around 85kish. Drove the living shit out of it all the time, nuked one .50 trim, upgraded to a beast mode precision turbo and it handled everything I threw at it. My car was turbo from November 2007- December 2010. Then I made the decision to go with an sr to "try something new". Of course my sr committed suicide in epic fashion... Good news is, I have another ka I'm actually going to build this time around and shoot for higher power. Only problems I noticed were that the turbocharger worsened my valve stem seal leak. I attribute that to the engine being 15 years old though.

That srt4 video brings back memories. hahaha I wish I'd videotaped the smoke screen that my car let out the next day when the turbo breathed it's last. :picardfp:

wow damn its clean work punxva my kinda taste.. i am basically an sr20 lover but recently ka`s are attracting me these days becuz there is no rocker arm problems and 2.4 ive always seen good torque numbers compare to hps .. good luck

Punxva's is the only one that's really impressed me so far. The rest have been "okay".

Still waiting to see someone with a KA-T set up including a fuse box relocation, full wire tuck, PS reservoir relocated, BMC and Clutch master hardlines relocated (err, using ChaseBays SS lines or something similar), top mount manifold, and shiny TIG'd IC piping.

That'd be neat.

I had my heart set on a Peak Boost turbo manifold but a friend was just telling me they went out of business, anyone know if thats true???? If Peak boost is gone what is the next best manifold other than Full Race, must be a top mount, available with a T3 flange and a 35/38mm wastegate flange and be great quality..........?

Any reason why you chose E-Fan's over the stock clutch fan/fan shroud?

Thought about ordering a set of E-fans myself (cleaner look), but the fan shroud works better in my opinion.

No problem I know its still not much but this isnt a build thread so i wont post before pics but the car came along way..

I do like the look of e fans just because they are close and my clutch fan had gone out and never replaced it..

plus for some reason I always have cars that like to overheat no matter how much cooling power i have so atleast i can put them on a acc timer or set them to run till its reached a set temp

Custom Arias 8:8:1, Eagle Rods, Clevite Bearings, Apr Head Stud and Main Kit, Spec Stage 3, already ordered wideband and 550's, havent bought the turbo but it'll be a garret t04e, wastegate tial, fmic, downpipe, greddy rs, manifold treadstone, then I'll get cometic headgasket, walbro, and nistune for tuning, what else would you guys recommend me? Is this enough to made 350whps?

That would look really good to see, the Chasebays engine bay IMO has set the bar for the cleanest KA engine bay by far. If there was a bay that Looked like that and put down a good amount of power would be full of win.

Very nice setup, what tuning are you using?

I had an EFI specialist rom tune with a SAFC neo, I built that setup several years ago...I have since smartened up and learned how to to tune myself. If i where to do it again i'd go nistune or that new nismotronics...Car ran good, smooth and strong for 15k miles. Only complaint was i wrecked 3 trans in that time. I've since moved on from the KA but i'm going to be rebuilding that short block and throwing it in a buddies car.

that shouldn't even be a question, haha...KA's run out of steam pretty quick with t25's. Even a t28 is really really mild on a KA

I will get a pic of my setup here soon. Right now I am on a GT28R bottom mount setup. I have a Holset HX35, the thing that is stopping me from changing my setup is not being able to find a mani/dp combination that is known to work in an S13 as far as hood clearance. My hood is spaced.

I have been running on an EFI Specialist tuned ECU and last year I swapped out the chips to support some 550cc injectors and Z32 MAF that I installed last year. Trying to get prepared to run the Holset. I even have the factory compressor outlet with v band clamp off of a Dodge Cummins truck. Also I got a turbine discharge flange that I will use to replace the 4/5 bolt Garret flange with on whatever downpipe I get.

ATLSpeed, I see that you are running a Holset in your pics above. Looks to me like you are running a bottom mount tubular mani flipped upside down. Did you chop off the T2 flange and weld on a T3 flange, or did you use an adapter. I would think an adapter would create even less space for hood clearance. How many of you guys know of a mani/dp combo that works well with a Holset?

The manidold that I am using is a newer ebay top mount manifold. Its basically a flipped bottom mount with ext. wastegate and bbraced. I want an equal length tubular manifold like fullrace, etc but without the price.

I'm building a top mount for an HX35 for my 2nd s14. Can build for s13. Just waiting on my materials to arrive.

Fully built.. 1000cc injectors on haltec p1000 working AC using ls2 coilpacks
precision 62/62 billet wheel turbo made 410hp/412TQ on low boost 17 psi.Drives better then stock.. I love haltec.. high boost on this car is nuts I never use it..

Not sure what they are for exactly/how they work

But they cost about $6k

My buddy bought one and it didn't bolt up lol required custom fab work, $6000 for an intake mani and it won't bolt on? No thanks ikea

any itb setup requires fab work, its great on N/A
im just not sure the benefits on a turbo setup.. maybe a little bit better throttle response, but at the cost of annoying tuning issues and finicky crap.

not nearly as clean of a setup as most on here but heres mine: stock internals :-/ srt25, sr 370s, walbro 255 fmic, apexi neo, enthalpy and radiator on the way and hopefully get some more of the unnecessary emmisions crap out of the way.

its fits i am running one on my top mount i just clocked the turbo strait down and cut the pipe on the turbo side about 4 inches shorter and the rest mounts right up just fine

u just gotta bend the tube for the icav over a little so the hose will not kink and cuase idle problems or run a an fitting on it like i did

the only problem was because of how my turbo was clocked and my piping. i had to run my filter in front of my rad. looked ugly.

Whatsup man...all I could say is I hear excellent things ...the dude kheim who turnes the ecu's is actuallyy an awsome guy and even trouble shooted shit with me over the phone for a while and I wasn't even a customer it started out as a phone call inquiring a tune and right off the bat he was cool and def knows what he's talking about I def.reccomend him as much of ka-t.org would also.

Had the stock intake runners (where the factory pcv is hooked up to) tap'd and put plugs in. The rest is as follows
PCV (being a one way valve letting pressure out) Goes to the catch can
VC breather goes to catch can
I have a filter on the other end right now, but eventually i'll have my intake pipe bunged. Which will look clean because it goes straight out of my Neukin catch can that bolts to the block.
Also need to get my AN fittings and braided lines put on for bling factor.

^^cool, seems like were on the same. page. mine is pretty clean also. under neath IC cold pipe. i could tuck the hose going over the shroud, under the shorud, but that would sucks lol. just gonna get some plastic rivets and pop them into the holes in the shroud to hold the hose down tightly.

not that i know of. i bought it brand new from phase2. it sealed great to the motor itself, just not where it bolts to the turbo. n yeah, i love how stock it looked too.

Here is an older pic of mine. I have a chrome intake and valve cover now and my intake is under the fender well. Runs so much better with the maf far away from the turbo. No annoying stalling on decel.

Yes because when you hit boost the pcv valve is sealed (air attempting to enter crankcase)
You can either
Plug the intake runners (4 of them 1/runner)
Then run the pcv to a catch can then to atmosphere
or ideally run to catch can then intake side post maf.

can i have more info about the swap into the e30? i have a long e30 backing and this is the first ka swap into an e30 ive seen. im aching to do one as a tarmac rally car.

and i thought the only 324 was the turbo diesel.

For all you guys who are running stainless steel line to your 300zx fuel filter, what are you guys using to keep the line on the fuel filter without it leaking like an STD? I tried putting a slghtly(i mean slighly) bigger rubber hose on my filter once and tightend the clamp as much as possible and still leaked.

Generally KA-T builds are really nice or really poor. I'll explain. In the KA-T world most people are DIY types of people, that do a lot of research and reading, or have previous experience turbo-ing a non-turbo car.

More often then not people start a project, then cheap out in the wrong area (usually tuning) and end up getting out of the KA-T. The ones that made the hall of fame on the site usually were the ones that had a proper tune, good rods, and understand tuning almost at par with many shops out there.

Its hit or miss. If you want to do a KA-T, you either spend a long time reading to do it right, or you hack job it in on the cheap and don't expect to make over 300hp.

When i built my engine i didn't have a job so i didn't use forged rods, machine shop checked and "reconditioned" them. The pistons are the weak part in the KA engines (Obviously to a certain extent). EVERYONE blows the ringlands out. I wish i had a job and could have just fully built my engine. But that just means i can build the engine thats sitting on my garage floor even better.

here's my mess lol it ran great for over 2 years, I was commuting in it for a while doing about 400 miles a week in it with zero problems.

specs are:
t3/t4 57 trim
treadstone cast manifold
555cc nismo injectors (rated at 615cc)
JWT ecu
z32 blow-through mafs
3in full exhaust
FMIC
greddy type rs

It dyno'd at 268whp and 283 tq at 11psi on the base JWT reflash, I'm told I can get a lot more power with an AFC NEO and an ignition upgrade(getting spark blow out at high rpms)

**I did get the nismo motor mounts shortly after lol

Everything was running fine until my walbro fuel pump took a dump..the fuel strainer fell off and it must've sucked some crap up because it couldn't sustain over 25 psi of fuel pressure so this happened to #4

so i pulled the motor out, sent the head out, did a quick hone job and replaced the one piston and dropped it back in. The motor has been running good but it doesn't seem as fast as it used to and it seems to have more blow-by. The compression was around 155-160 across the board, so maybe i'm tripping but I'll have to get it dyno'd again. So far it's super reliable and still very quick at 10 psi.

Here's my latest Ka-t setup. Holset He341 @20psi on 93 octane tuning with nistune Made 404whp and 382 wtq. Not too bad for a $250 turbo and a t2 mani flipped and a t3 flange welded on. Moving on now to an Aem EMS, 1000cc injectors and a map/iat based tune. Yeah no more maf, HAHA!

Fully built.. 1000cc injectors on haltec p1000 working AC using ls2 coilpacks
precision 62/62 billet wheel turbo made 410hp/412TQ on low boost 17 psi.Drives better then stock.. I love haltec.. high boost on this car is nuts I never use it..

Yes I had a friend/fabricator make it for me. The powerband with this manifold and cams is shifted significantly higher, but it's much more smooth and just keeps pulling the entire way to redline. I can't wait to have it dyno'd with the current setup- should be 450+ on 93 at 20-20lbs.

ive lost track on my ka-t but by time i get her running id say around $8300.... thats including motor, ecu, intercooler, tune,.. you get the point.

haha mee too.that included literally everything, complete motor/drivetrain from nuts n bolts to turn and go.
complete motor w/forged bottom end + cams/springs alone was 4300

Still making the downpipe, then I'll move onto the intercooler piping. Holset HX30 on a flipped t2 manifold. T2 flange was cut off, t3 welded on.

Setup looks clean. I recommend that you buy the heat shield for the bmc. Dunno if the guy is selling the ones that are prebent in the advertised sales section anymore.

Also, where the people relocating their coil too? Wanna move mine but dont know where to put it.
