So here is the deal my old car got totaled from a tornado 2 weeks after my house caught on fire. So with the insurance money I could only get a car that was not running. I got everything swapped over (motor, tranny, diff, engine harness, tranny harness). The car I got was automatic, so I did a 5 speed swap.
I was having problems with power running to ground. Thinking it was my chassis harness and interior harness I swapped them out with a working set from a buddys parts car.
Motor, tranny, engine harness, and tranny harness are from a BASE model.
The new car is SE model.
After swapping out the 2 harnesses, I am having the same problem, thinking it could be my tranny harness I separate it from the chassis harness.
Forgive me if I'm all over the place but im trying to give you all the information as it comes to my whee brain.
I have found out that if i remove the alternator fuse, the test light does not come on when I try and recreate the problem.
How i am testing the ground issue :
-remove negative wire from negative terminal
-clamp test light to neg wire
-hook fat white wire (feeds power to alt fuse and the five fuses next to it) to positive on battery
-poke the test prob to negative terminal of battery
=light coming on. This is showing me I have a hot wire leading to ground somewhere, The fat white wire is the only one that has a short.
I can start the car, power seat belts do not work, i can turn the car off, when key is removed power will remain at power windows, locks, and cluster.
After turning the key to on then removing it I have tried to unplug the ignition tumbler and no change, completely removed engine harness results in no change, completely disconnect lower harness shows no change.
I have noticed both chassis harnesses i have are missing a pin at the power interface gray plug, but the engine harness has the 8 there.
I have started to disconnect components and see if there would be any change, none.
If you have any questions please let me know. I will give you any and all information I can.
Oh, now all wiring is for se manual power everything...
Thanks in advanced for all the help I may or may not receive.
