Hey people,

I've got my Nissan Silvia S14a from 10th months of '97, freshly imported from Japan. For trackdays I want to be able to go more than 180 kilometers pr hour, so I've got a HKS Speed Limit Defencer Type 1 (for manual transmission).

I have been searching around, and been throwing back and forth from this side to the page on GTR.co.uk

-> How to install: HKS SLD (Speed Limit Defencer) - GT-R Register - Official Nissan Skyline and GTR Owners Club forum (http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/83619-how-install-hks-sld-speed-limit-defencer.html)

I've got the pin diagram for the regular S14, I suppose it's the same for the S14a - if not, please correct me!

If I knew which wires to cut and solder on, I would do it. I'm good at that stuff, but I'm simply confused.

When looking on the GTR side, he is talking about two methods.

1. Cars for seperate sensor for the speedometer (as on his R33 GTR)
2. Cars where the ECU output for the speedometer

As it turns out, I've been looking on the pinout diagram, and I'm pretty sure that it is number 1. Shown below:

What I have come up with is:

- SLD-Red Wire -> pin 59 (R) ECU POWER
- SLD-Black Wire -> pin 60 (B) ECU Ground
- SLD-Yellow/white -> Cuts off pin 53 (Y/G) Vehicle Speed Sensor
- SLD-Blue -> Not used as there is no "output" as far as I can see

The red wire could either pin 49, pin 59 or pin 109 as far as I can see. Which one is best? I see that on the GTR they put it on 59 and black on 60... think it should work?

Any tech guys who can tell me if I'm right or wrong with the setup as above?? :-)

Yeah, looks good! Disconnect your negative battery post prior to connecting.

Thanks! I'll stick to 59 and 60 as they are placed 'easy to find' on the stick!

And thanks with the advice about taking of the negative power... I actually thought you should take of the positive. May I ask if there is any reason for negative instead of positive? Just wondering...

CANNOT WAIT untill I get my car back from the engine guy who are fixing and setting it up, and then I will install the SLD - hopefully it works like a charm...!
