View Full Version : The Saddest Day of My Life.

I don't have words to describe my grief. It's truly beyond words how a stupid car can affect your life. It took me a good year of searching to find this s14 with 84,000 original miles. A little dinged up but nothing big. Minimal rust and a STRONG engine. Oh, perfect interior. On a 240 at that! I worked on her nearly every day to make it the most reliable car I could until the fun would begin. 300ZX brake swap. Fix that damn timing chain rattle that I loved and hated all at once. HKS Hi-Performance exhaust. Hell maybe even spring for those Enkei rims I wanted. I never even had the change to drift her. I babied the car because it took so damn long to find it, and afford it. It wasn't my fault. A sharp curve in the middle of nowhere town and a lot of rain. I lost control of the rear end. Minutes later I had a dislocated arm, a concussion and multiple head contusions. I was lucky but it doesn't even matter. I wasn't drinking. I wasn't driving like a retard. Just a normal night. 2 am. I'm sick. Maybe I'll get another someday. It'll sure be a while. Nobody new me on here. But this is my good bye to a gorgeous car. Their rare enough in good condition and this doesn't help matters. The aftermath is below. Thanks for reading. Enjoy your 240 if you have one. Later.

This just happened yesterday morning so I haven't had a chance yet. I couldnt even get the hood open to see if the engine was ok. I'm assuming it's not. You never know. If I get another one I'll get a 91-93. Maybe.

Nothing personal but the saddest day of your life is pretty melodramatic for a car. I mean seriously dude I feel for you that you wrecked your car. Though if this is the saddest day of your life then, you have lead a pretty sheltered life. I mean I was expecting to read about the loss of a loved one not a car. Cars are replaceable.
Instead of being sad about the car you should be happy you got away with minor injuries. You should be grateful for that.
Sorry about the car but man up and move on.

Crashing a car is always sad, but if you went to track to go drifting often you'd be over it much faster. Cars get thrashed all the time. This happened one time to me at the track:

Sure it sucks, but you gotta look at it this way: It's a chance to build something new and do things differently the second time around. You just gotta keep your chin up and be optimistic!

Like Dave said, you haven't been out much if the worst thing to ever happen to you was YOU smashed up your own car. S14 chassis are cheap these days. (I'm talkin $12-1500 for a straight rolling shell). Either part it out or get a shell and swap all the parts over.

Dood i feel for you. But i have to agree with most of the comments. It should not be the saddest day of your life. Not even close. I understand having a sense of attachment to a material thing like a car.I had mine stolen and was going crazy ,douchebags wrecked it (took out Quarter panel) same day they jacked it .I got lucky and retrieved her quickly. Everytime I looked at my car I wanted to cry, even got depressed and just wanted to sell the damn thing. The trick is to not get emotional and ponder over spilled milk.Man up!Like easy E said "throw it in the gutter and go buy another".Understand that material things can be replaced . If anything your all bummed out cause everything you had planned for her ,went out the window and your still in shock. Count your blessings , all is not lost. Regroup like Rocky Balboa and come back stronger ,get inspired again. Dont dwell on the past it will keep you from moving forward.Accept it and move on.

I have the same love for my supra as you do for your car. That car is my life and to me its more than just a car its my family and a loved one. I promised that car its staying with me till the day i die and i will never let go of it. its been an amazing car and i usually kind go overboard with maintenance, usually oil change soon as i get the slightest spec of color change ( ive had the car for four years and only put 3 to 4 k miles on it and ive changed the oil soo many times) and ofcourse soon as the filter just gets alittle dirty i change it and plugs maybe have 600 miles on em but ima change em soon.
Some people say its just a car.. but some people have a connection with that car and it feels like someone was murdered in your family when something happens to that car...

ive a similar kind of story. came around a bad corner to find a person stopped for directions. ploughed into her and hit the rear off an esb pole.
pushed my engine into the subframe and mangled it. man i was pooed but everyone was ok.
sold a rake of parts off her and bought a new one

supras are sexy! I saw a wrecled one with twin Turbo for 16k the body's in bad shape but the engine's clean. well looks clean idk how long he's had it there for....think its wtorth it?
BoostSlideWayz
06-20-2011, 11:53 AM
depends on your fab skills and how badly its damaged... supra body panels are expensive, but on forums you can find panels for sale and even ebay you can find subframes and full bodies for sale and be able to replace the damaged part. 16k for a TT wrecked supra its depends. I mean if the engine is lower miles and getrag 6 speed its going to be worth it.. but if its automatic not worth it. i would see if theres frame damage or just like dents all over the body.

When was the last time you had a running 240 onthe street :P lol
Really though,
Its all your own fault Takumi.
If you were driving by regular road rules, this wouldnt have happened.
Not to mention it was wet. I dont see a sign reading "devils elbow 10mph" , and hundreds of cars lined up there at that corner crashed, JUST YOU.
Why dont you get off your pity pot and get honest.
For the rear to step out,
you pulled the ebrake,
clutch locked it by trying to downshift hard (and forgot to rev match)
turned in while braking, letting the rear come round
Or accellerated out to early.
IMO, you did none of those, and your story is BS.
The rear never came round.
What happended was you thought you were all Initial D, came into a corner to fast, started pushing, and stupidly hit the brakes just making it worse, and just pushed right into the rail.
This is just speculation, but it looks like it was a right hand corner?
you went through the passenger lane, (thankgod no one was there)
and you hit the rail/wall on your drivers side( hence the horizontal scrape marks)
Im just taking shots in the dark, but how close am I ?
At least you came out with just some bangs and bruises, and no one else was hurt.

Wrong. This is your fault. Slow down. You are lucky no one else was there.
Things that fall under "not my fault,":
Someone else hits you
Acts of God
etc
You losing control because you are driving too fast in the rain, or your tires are worn out, is YOUR FAULT.
Sorry to hear about the car. There are plenty more out there though.

Caring about your car is one thing. It shows in how you present and take care of it. Obsessing over it to the point of (even exaggerating) declaring the wrecking of it as “the worst day of your life” is taking it to extremes.
The day I wrecked my S14 probably classifies as the “worst day of my life,” but that has a lot more to do with the broken jaw, broken shoulder and 3 skull fractures that had me in the hospital for 16 days. When I came to 5 days in, all I could think was “well, fuck the car, I got my life… I’ll get another” and that was that.
Yes, we are enthusiasts, but for one to let their enthusiasm for a CAR – which is not as rare as you’re making it out to be – that can be replaced is just foolish. Material goods are not something we should think of on the same level as “things for which I consider my life ruined”

Same here. I was lucky to have walked away from my wreck (first car/first S13 as well). At the moment, it sucked. All I could think about was how I'd never be able to replace it. Then, two weeks later, I did. Cars come and go. Now, I'm more happy to be alive than anything else. I could give a shit less about that car. Nothing more than a material possession that can be easily replaced.

this kid......... he is heart-broken. and we're teasing him? seriously, what a bunch of dicks. where the fuck were we raised?
i will be the first one to stand up and apologize. i am sorry. i take back my negative words and am truly sorry.
ive heard a lot of sad stories, people getting horrible life threatening ailments, people losing family members.......... but after re-reading this thread, i've come to realize that smashing your car is a horrible thing, it really is. and when it happens, it makes you feel............... like shit really. i mean, life is at its lowest point right now........... the only thing i can consider suggesting............................... is suicide. end it all. write nissan a heart-felt letter, letting them know what you've been through. all the joy and happiness you shared with this car. its first wash. its first tire change and alignment. all of that is gone.
in the end just write:
"goodbye CRUEL WORLD..............."
cars............ they truly suck.

I don't have words to describe my grief. It's truly beyond words how a stupid bubble shift knob can affect your life. It took me a good 3 months to receive this. A little scratched up but nothing big. Minimal slip and a STRONG grip. Oh, perfect for my interior. On a 240 at that! I worked on getting updates about her nearly every other day to make it the most reliable group buy I could until the shift knobs came in.. Thread adapter. Fix that damn thread pitch that I hated all at once. Shifting up and down. Hell maybe even spring for those leds to hook up to it. I never even had the change to drift with it. I babied the knob because it took so damn long to make it, and receive it. It wasn't my fault. A sharp beam of sunlight and some heat. I lost control of the cracking. A few days later I had a cracking shift knob. I wasnt lucky but it doesn't even matter. I wasn't drinking. I wasn't driving like a retard. Just a normal morning. 10 am. I'm sad. Maybe I'll get another someday. It'll sure be a week or two. Somebody new me on here. But this is my good bye to a gorgeous shift knob. Their common enough in good quality and this does help matters. The aftermath is not gunna be shown. Thanks for reading. Enjoy your 9k racing bubble shift knob if you have one. Later.
Disclaimer: in no way am I bagging on 9k, they provided a great group buy and product, I probably just got a bad knob.

thats how i am about my car, people tell me to turn mine into a track car.
and that just buy another one for a daily. NO this was my very first car lol.
in great sorrow for your loss dude! keep your head up

I rolled my e30 a couple months after I got it back in '02. It was my fault; my driving had let me down.
I used the experience to become a better driver. Everyone should use these kinds of experiences as such; if you don't learn from it, it was a waste.
Honestly, though, I drive so slowly in the rain it's pathetic.

Back in June of '09 I was in a pretty bad accident with a friend in his S14. He was trying to slide this corner in an industrial area and caught some nasty understeer, before we knew it there was a telephone pole where his radiator used to be.
6 Months later he replaced both front wheel wells, straightened the frame, replaced the rad support and fixed a bunch of shotty bondo work - the car looked better than new.
What did I learn from this? Cars are meant to be driven, meant to be broken, and meant to be fixed. Sure, it sucks when something happens, but if you like your car that much, don't drive the damn thing.

i think the above posts are really important. there are a lot of people, newer car owners typically, who lack knowledge and experience and are too quick to spend money modifying their car in ways that they are unsure of. they add modifications that they think are improvements which are questionable, moreso for a street car. when the car becomes imbalanced and unstable they run a higher risk of losing control and mashing up their car.
but thats the name of the game, when you break something you get back on your feet and fix it. more importantly, when you make modifications you better do a shitload of research before spending that money. many people would be better off going spending that money on gas and driving, or having a driving instructor teach them from their mistakes
funny, when i see people drive in the rain i tend to be a bit more conservative too. not because i am not confident as a driver, but mostly because you never know when you're going to plow over a pothole or dip full of water. there are a lot of idiots out there who dont know how to properly control their car. although i do like to go out sliding around in the canyons when its wet, but thats another story.

so way dude i would cry.. al that work and money and love just destroyed.
i mean my car of course.. not this mostly stock zenki.. but you said for a car..
i would be happy to be in the hospital with a broken leg than my car be totaled or even hurt..
im wired lol
Ya I can tell you were wired when you wrote this. It's a mess and makes little sense. Lesson here? I think that is obvious.
Oh and fuck, I rolled a car last summer and walked away. I was happy as fuck, laughing 10 minutes after it happened. Why? I rolled a fucking car and did not get injured. Like I said earlier cars are replaceable, injuries and f lives that is another story.

Mike's dirty little secret is out, he is a closet drifter.

It wasn't my fault. A sharp curve in the middle of nowhere town and a lot of rain. I lost control of the rear end.
Wrong. This is your fault. Slow down. You are lucky no one else was there.
Guess what, it was your fault.
I remember your T-bone, I still think about those pictures and you walking away and can't figure out how, unless you magically transported to the passenger seat in the middle of it all.

guess you're going to have to part out the car to cover the medical expenses from the accident?

Later.
Lucky but it doesnt matter?
Sorry about your lost, and you've probably stopped checking zilvia by now after the kind words above, but threads like this remind me(the rest of you as well) that you shouldnt get too attached to material things from the get go. I feel your pain. Sometimes you have to be broke down, and put in a reality check as a reminder. For instance my first heart break was when I jumped timing and killed everything. The car has set about 2 months waiting for a new engine. unfortunately your first check was too late and much worse; whatever im trying to say:confused:,, most people on here wont feel it until it happens to them. The best thing you can do is learn from this, and get something better and move on.
As far if it was your fault(Im not saying it was), my first car was a mazda protege sedan with 106 HP. I could not speed or do anything with it but lower it and put wheels on it. I learned to crawl before I began to jog. It taught me alot of discipline. Im happy of whatever comes out as long as I'm driving at my own risk, wich is why I wish cops would stop writing tickets for seatbelts.:picardfp:
