View Full Version : grinding/cranking sound when braking?

So heres the situation..
when im just cruising or driving slow and then i brake lightly..nothing, its fine.
but if im driving like 50+ mph and i brake..i get this grinding/cranking sound.
also happens if im driving about 30+ mph and then step on the brakes medium-to-hard.
any ideas?

brake pads need to be replaced.
Probably the brake pads Metal backing grinding against the rotor

Exactly. You can check if the pads are low take off the wheel and check the thickness. Your rotor should be scratched to hell too.

hmmm ok. im stopping by my mechanic after work today anyways..i'll have him check it..will update what happens next.
