I remember many years ago most people's car were full of Japanese parts and everyone took pride in keeping their parts Japanese and high quality.

These days it seems like nobody cares about Japanese parts/brands any more and are only worried about the price. It's easier to get your hands hands on american or chinese off brands of whatever part you are looking for.

ISSI, Megan, Circuit sports, Fortune auto, Version Select, Mishimoto etc.

Seems like these brands are the norm now instead of real companies like Tomei, ARC, HKS, Trust, Blitz, DG5 etc. Anymore. What the hell happened?

An econimic recession.... LOL

Its just as cars get older and cheaper to attain so do the builders/builds of said cars. For example I built a 350z in 2003... The car cost me 35k alone. Turbo and suspension, wheels and aero another 15k. Now you can pick up Z's for 10k or less if you look hard enough. There are 600.00 coilovers for them now ect... Knock off/third party companies get involved once they know there is a large enough market to cater to. They dont care about quality, performance or reliabilty. They just want a bunch of kids ordering their parts from ebay so they can continue shipping freight containers over full of shit.

240's have had knock off parts around for almost a decade now. XS Power(SSAC) has been around knocking off parts for years.

To be honest I think genuine high quality is the way to go if you can afford it, but if the car is going to be at the track and you are learning on a low budget nothing beats the price of these knock offs. Even most who are experienced drivers don't want to take real te37's or SSR's to the track (I know some do but most dont) because a dirt drop could mean a $500+ mistake.

^ I agree with GT.. " If you can afford it". I am by no means saying knock off shit is the way to go, because it isn't. I'm in the process of a build right now, and when looking for which brand to choose, I generally go off of peoples reviews to see what they are happy with. I stay away from knock off's as much as possible, but I certainly don't look toward brands like ARC, Project Mu, Tomei, or Volk because they are damn expensive mainly for the name.

In reality anyone can afford it... It just takes them a little longer to save for it then the other guy. LOL...

Megan and the Isis and all those companies have become a "brand".... So, I'n reality you are stuck I'n the past with The "quality " issue. Because most of these "generic" products as u refer them to well don't fail as much as u may think or lead to believe.... I dont to talk about the six sigma concept again... But look it up

Instead of buying knock off parts. Why not buy used quality parts? It still saves me money and best part its still legit for years to come.

im not knocking company's like tomei, arc, and other japan based companies but some of these "knockoff" companies aren't that bad. there parts do hold up just as good as some Japanese companies. now real ebay knockoff parts should not be touched at all.

Mishimoto is a very good u.s based company. they make really nice stuff. why pay for a jdm radiator why i can buy one that does the same damn thing for 100 bucks less.plus there located in my state lol.don't even get me started on exhaust. id never pay 600+ for an exhaust

im pretty sure that shipping plays a nice part in that JDM price tag

Good taste is a rarity these days OP hence all the junk on the market

TE37s are designed to be driven on hard. Why do you think they cost so much?

Refer to this quote.

They are also behind ISIS, claiming it to be a 'real' brand, even though all their products are just Ebay parts for which they charge more than they can be had for on Ebay, under the pretense that it is their product.

....so poor people should not be allowed to build their cars? For me it is about function. And if it gets the job done and does it well then I see no problem with people choosing cheap crap. Its their car. And gives more kudos for those who established the needs and wants of the community. There will always be half ass tuners and those who are committed for legit parts.

I've made it a point for myself to save up a little bit extra and buy the legitimate parts, even if they're used. I'd much rather see Blitz, HKS, Greddy, Bride, A'PEXi, Tomei and OS Giken in my car than Megan, Godspeed, ISIS or whatever other shit brand is out there. I'm not doing it to impress anyone, I'm really just doing it for myself because that's what I want for my car.

well said you get what you pay for in some cases the knock off's work almost as good as the higher end parts just depends on what you are trying to do with the car win awards or enjoy the car and keep it in a tight budget and not break down and cry when you put it into a curb lol  if you can afford to bust a rim that's part of a 3k set of wheels then more power to you

OP won't be posting any pics of his car.

I'm sure you can find them though, just search for a 240sx tandem drifting with CHP.

This is closed, as the OP is a repeatedly banned individual, who has nothing better to do then continually try and stir up trouble.
