I been trying to adjust my striker and I even replaced it with another one but the trunk still wants to stick up.

I noticed that the metal around the latch on the trunk lid is cracked so should I replace the whole trunk lid?

I have the same problem with mine. The previous owner went to the extreme of putting hoodpins so it cant sit flush.

Im thinking of drilling the adjustment for the latch lower. It sits too high even on the lowest stock setting.

Edit: You wouldn't happen to know a guy with a blue rx-7?

mine did the same thing also, but i just figured it was from a rear end collision repair, guess not. i just stopped messin with it lol.

The previous owner already tried drilling the slots lower so the striker can sit lower but then the latch won't catch onto the striker if I move the striker all the way down.
I do not know a guy with a blue rx7.

son of a bitch - I thought it was just me - bought the car like that and assumed it was rear collision damage, even have new hinges to put on the trunk...

do you have any pictures of how you installed the spring latches?

lol, this is the best pick i have.

and remember, you have to have them at a downward angle to pull the trunk closed.

mine slightly did this but i just moved the striker down a bit. its still up a 1/16" of an inch and rattles but i havent messed with it any more. when i bought it the front was up and not the back...one of thetrunk bolts was broken off. i wish i could help more since im a body man but mine doesnt have this issue.

after adjusting mine down mine also wouldnt close anymore....turns out that the latch was hitting too far forward on the striker and not it the open area to catch it. might look into that?

dennisC- just slowly move the striker lower and lower until it does latch.

I had been trying to adjust it a bunch of times but with no luck getting it to sit perfect.

the rubber snubbers on the sides could be holding it up and not letting it travel down ito the latch anymore. could go as far as removing the stops and getiing it to sit correctl then put the snubbers back in and bring them to the correct height

Its most likely the latch. If you look down in the trunk (near the headlights) where the latch is, I believe, there are two screws and by loosening them you can move the whole latch mechanism downward and tighten it back up. This should fix the problem. It did for me and also fixed the rattling issue. I can probably get pics tomorrow if anyone needs them.

i tried this, didn't work on my s14.

i did this too, if you lower it any lower than the factory slit, the trunk wont latch. my absolute last resort was the spring latches. I've tried everything else.

Did you ever try new hinges though?

Did you ever try new hinges though?

the hinges are in the front near the rear glass and wouldnt be keeping the trunk up.

i went as far as removing the support springs for the trunk lid in order to make it heavier, which helped, but still needed to add the latches.

absolute shitty, I'm gonna put a carbon creations trunk on anyway so it's not worth fcking with mine yet, I assumed that the previous owner slammed the trunk on something and cockeyed the whole thing warping a hinge
