Hello! My name is Ryan and I must say, Damn it feels good to be working on a 240 again! I just got my project back and needed to join this forum again (used to have an account like 6 years ago but i forgot it). So if anyone cares here is my 240 story.
I orginally bought a '95 equipped with a redtop, frontmount, electromotive tecII, cat-back exhaust, act stage 3 clutch, jun flywheel, type s bov, eibach springs, some 17" rota wheels and big fat gay spoiler.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i382/dicker420/1.jpg
So drove it around for a little and decided to to a Kouki headlights with zenki corners, added a cf hood, and a s15 steering wheel and shift knob, and some custom headrests.
Then I side swiped a guard rail while learning how to drift and it was "totaled" according to the ins.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i382/dicker420/3.jpg
So I took it to college while trying become a Motorsports Engineer at UNCC. So as it turns out my college roomate also had a zenki that was looking real nice (forum member name unknown) and was wanting to do a redtop conversion. So as luck would have it he ended up buying this 91 S13 auto rolling shell with a redtop on the side and he decided that we could trade out some parts from my s14 for the s13 shell and thus began my project called S13.4det.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i382/dicker420/5.jpg
So the shell only had wheels, glass, doors and steering column. Nothing else. So in went my Zenki black leather/fuade dash, door panels, center console, seats, dash support, blower motor, heater core, clutch pedal, and steering column. Okay now i have an interior.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i382/dicker420/7.jpg
I got the engine, powertrain, wiring, ecu, all in the car and it wouldn't run right. The TEC II basically took a shit on me after several attempts of service and new harnesses and coil packs. Then the shit hit the fan and i got into some financial issues and was forced to sell the car to a buddy of mine.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i382/dicker420/6.jpg
This buddy of mine decided to pay me to finish what i had started, except he wanted to put down around 500hp and wanted to put on a wide body kit. So we started buying stuff, like a top mount t70, huge front mount, aluminum driveshaft, greddy intake and oil pan, hks stage 3 top end, fuel pump, fpr, fuel rail, type r bov, 50mm wastegate, j30t rear end, etc. We never got finished ordering parts for the engine when we decided to put on the wide body kit along with S14 kouki front end conversion fenders. Then after that we were deciding which stand alone system to run, when he got arressted and went to jail and he sold the car.
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i382/dicker420/9.jpg
http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i382/dicker420/11.jpg
Then I moved 2000 miles away it sat for 3 years and parts slowly were sold off of it.
Fastforward to 2011 and i figured out where the car was and bought it back and towed it out to my new humble abode in Colorado. So now i have this project on my hands and i cant wait to finish it and get it back on the road!
So i need your help with parts, information, advise, criticism, comments and concerns. So stay tuned for updates and pics.
Thanks for reading!

Random question: Did you rivet your tubs together?
Yes the tubs and front rad support are in position with 1/8" by 3/8" rivets, but everything is going to be welded and seam sealed.

Still staying up late I see. One pic was at 5:27 AM.
And there is more to this crazy story. Bought the 91 auto, redtop, bodykit, 2 ka engines, sparco seats and some other crap for 2k. Gave him the car for strut tower bars, struts with eibach springs, sunroof, leather backseats, and swaybars etc. My carbon fiber hood flew up on the interstate thats why I needed the sunroof. My car ended up getting stolen and I gave him back the only thing the thieves didnt steal, the swaybars.

so i decided to practice my painting skills on my fmic piping and my cage this week. What a PITA it was to prep those cage bars!! Took about 10 hrs of grinding with a paint/rust epoxy wheel and a drill followed by a good sanding of 240g paper before using ppg epoxy etch primer.

sorry for some crappy pics, some were from my ipod others with my nikon.
it turned out pretty decent imho for a first-time-booth-paint-session.
My plan is to mask off painted areas then weld the cage in, then just blend in when i spray the car.
I also deflashed the molded rubber material used as sound deadening on the car

and i removed the oem bushings from my rear subframe

i know brown is not a favorite color on here, but i grew up near Hershey, PA and it reminds me of sweeeeet sweeeeet chocolate too much to pass up. :p

Haha yeah... it is designed to go through the vents of a s14 dash- which is what is going in the car, and the back cross...idk thats just how it was made. I thought about ditching it and getting/making something else, but i feel safe under it.

NHRA Specs call for min 1 5/8" dia 1/8 thick piping, this is 1 3/4" 0.120dom so yes it will pass. The angle that tubs are at allot for 3" extra clearance when the wheel is straight on, at bump stop it gains about 3/4" But this is not going to be a drift car, just drag.
Its inspiring to see this type of work. keep it up

so here is a little update on my car. I lost my job in august and was unemployed for three months and am still battling with unemployment to get my case finished. But now I found a new full time job and have some steady income coming in and can afford to work on the car some more. I recently painted the whole car in Audi Ipanema Brown. I rented a paint booth from a friend for $50 bucks a day and got the car done in three days which included two coats of primer, color and clear. Materials cost me around 1150, and that was for high end paint and clear coat with a primer/sealer. here are some pics:

Full-Bodied Cars
On full-bodied cars with driver in driving position, helmet must be in
front of main hoop. If helmet is behind or under main hoop,
additional tubing same size and thickness as roll cage must be
added to protect driver. Main hoop may be laid back or forward, but
driver must be encapsulated within the required roll-cage
components. On unibody cars with stock floor and firewall (wheel
tubs permitted), the roll cage may be bolted or welded to the
floor/rocker box via 6-inch x 6-inch x .125-inch steel plates similar to
the roll-bar attachment requirements of paragraph 4:10 in this
section. Unless attaching to OEM floor or frame, the minimum
requirements for a frame member to which a roll-cage member is
attached are 1 5/8-inch x .118-inch MS or .083-inch CM round
and/or 2-inch x 2-inch x .058 MS or CM rectangular.
and the pics should answer your question.

Finished up the garnish and center panel. They turned out excellent!! I also mounted up my hood. Ive read that anyone doing the s13.4 conversion just bolts up s14 hood brackets and walla it fits. Thats a load of crap. I had to drill new holes, tap them, and i used a whole tube(s) of JB weld, and just to make sure i urethaned over top of the bolts. These hood brackets are never coming off of this car, kinda like everything else.

Carbon roof...dope. How did you fit it? Cut the stock metal out and sealed it in?

nope. it's just an overlay. it comes with 3m double sided tape that you use to just stick it onto your roof. I added some urethane however, just to make sure that it doesn't come off. This was lighter and nicer than the oem glass sunroof and the fitment is perfect!
