Well, I've been doing the DIY tint removal while my engine is out and peeled off the back tint (as far as I could tell, a mistake if I want to keep the defroster). I did a search on these boards and saw that autozone sells a repair kit for the lines that is pretty much just a conductive paint. I live in Austin, Texas and chances are I'll never need the defroster (at least not for the next 2 years). I think it might looks better without the lines and it seems like they contribute to the bubbles in tint.
My question is, if I totally removed the defroster lines across the hatch (left the big side pieces), would the Autozone repair kit work (this would be assuming I moved up north and decided I wanted the defroster again) if I just made the lines out of that, or would it not give off the same heat?
