dude, this guy is the SHIT. originally he had all his 4sets of rotors up for $195 on ebay and hooked it up for me at $180 for all 4 without even knowing me, just a walk-in customer. today i bought 4 brembo slotted/cross drilled/zinc plated from him and they look FANTASTIC!

i'm still waiting for braided lines and pads for the front till i put them on, for now i think i'm gonna use them as pillows.

so everybody, at least give this guy a try, its a great investment.

MasterGrade in Signal Hill, LA sent them for about $190 shipped for 4 Brembo rotors.....
a bit of confusion since i ordered z32 fronts, 240sx rears, but well worth it in the end

you're very correct sir but this guy was out of blanks and any other store i saw blanks at was rather pricey. i saw nothing under $55 a rotor for blanks.

Blanks are no slots no drills in rotors. Better unless you want bling factor.

bling eh? i thought that cross drilling and slotting helps the brakes cool?

it does, but very few people that have them will actually need that much heat dissapation. not to mention it wears out your pads alot faster

Just run a search.

The basic gist from my point of view: A blank rotors has more surface area compared to a drilled or slotted rotor, therefore it has more area to also absorb and dissipate heat. Also since most rotors you will be buying that are x-drilled and/or slotted are done after the rotor was produced (not cast in from factory like porsche or other high end brake systems) they are more likely to crack and are not quite as strong. Also can wear pads quicker too. Hence why the x-drill and slots are bling factor. I ran x-drilled on my old teg and then switched back to blanks because there was no diff. I am going 300ZX brakes, and I will only use blanks.

Are all vented blanks the same? Aren't some vented at an angle and some vented straight (anyone know what I'm talking about)? Is there any reason to go Brembo over Nissan?

Thanks,
Johann

I use brembo OEM replacement blanks and they are identical to my stock S13 Nissan rotors from before. In terms of the vents for the front rotors (onlt fronts are vented rears are solids) they are the same too.

Thanks. Now I just have to do some research on pads and I have my setup.

amen to that. get your rotors slotted and/or cryo-treated if you feel like having SPECIAL brakes. For most production cars, blanks are basically as good as it gets. Once you step into big-brake kits with over-sized rotors and CAST holes, then you are talking a TRUE high performance rotor.

all the rotors for the 240 are going to have straight vanes. the only car i know of that has curved vanes is the vette. it really doesn't make that much difference. it helps a bit with cooling but makes the rotors more expensive. it more complicated than it's worth.

Brembo blanks = ~$25 from nopi.com

$180 for all 4 isnt a bad deal for the fancy ones though

yea but nopi only got blanks for rear only for solid and front is vented...what is vented? has holes right? or rear will fit in the front too?

only thing about brembo blanks is, they aren't zinc plated, or painted, so the rotor hat, and edges will rust.

If you wanted to save yourself a penny or two, you could just buy some high temp paint, and paint the hats/edges yourself. 900 degree minimum. Plastikote, VHT, and duplicolor all make some pretty cheap. I've used both VHT, and plastikote with success.

A trick I saw before to paint rotor hats is to cut out the center of a paper plate the same size as the hat. Slip it on, and paint away. Just make sure you get off all the oil that is on the rotor to keep it from rusting. Any brake cleaner, or carb cleaner will do the trick.

vented rotors have two seperate plates for the braking surface with vanes in between. the rotors pictured at the top are cross drilled and slotted. there are vented and non vented blanks (vented in front and solid in the back on the 240, not interchangable) and crossdrilled or slotted or crossdrilled and slotted rotors, either vented or non vented. the products section of the website listed earlier has some decent info. http://www.sportbrakes.com/id12.html

if you do use high temp pain on your rotors, be sure to keep it off the surface between the rotor and the wheel.

previous owner of friends civic painted the hats a very nice ricey blue and put steelies back on and now the wheel and rotor hat is fused together

cant take it off without going to shop....sucks!
