View Full Version : These offsets should be flush with the fender right?

Finally have enough money to replace the s14 stockers for some better rims. Found a good deal on a set of 5zigen Typhoons. 17x8 +27 front and 17x9 +35 rear. I've been doing a lot of searching and it seems that nitekids is the resident expert on wheel offsets. If in your opinion you think these rims will not fit properly without spacers please let me know!

I am not being a jerk, but you should probably post this on the Tech Talk forum, then someone will see it and be able to help you out quicker, because this is more of a tech related question...

LOL! Expert....not really....I'd say he's more obsessed with it than anything!
Anyways, they'll sit close to flush, but not perfect...but this statement is in the eye of the beholder. What seems flush to one person, may not seem flush to another. I have 16x8s with a +26 offset in the front and they're not perfectly flush, imo. Some people think that R33 gt-r wheels (17x9 +30 offset) are flush while others dont. S14's have pretty deep wheel wells, so you have a lot of room to run some pretty low offset, wide wheels. It really just depends on what your idea of "flush" is.

rofl ya so many different opinions on flush, you got any camber or what?
Get em and see what it looks like, spacers fix all, if not then more camber or fenders.

Camber all the way, screw fenders till you get so much camber that it looks bad and doesnt help the performance

i have typhoons, 17x8 with +35, with a 5mm spacer.
17x8 +27 IMO would be perfect, with the front, not quite sure about the rear, but i would say go with a lower offset in the rear than +35 with 17x9, what other offsett they come in? in that width?

Heartwork, your wheels are growing on me. At first I really hated the design, but for your car it looks so good now. I think the coolest thing is the 215/40/17 seriries in front. WHY? It lowers the front a lot and makes it appear more sporty. Its common to see 17x9 all around with 215/40 in front and 215/15 in rear on japanese drift cars. And yes i do mean JAPAN specifically cause no one in the US does that. I love the way 215/40 F and 225/40 R looks on 17x9 +15 and 18x9.5 +12 FOR S13 imho that is the prefect combination. Subtract 5mm for S14 offsets casue of the room. Nitekids has his car SLAMMED (your welcome Henry) and his 17x9 +15 fits no problem, infact kinda sunk in. (our definition hehe). Only rubbing issue he has is from his dumb 235/40s tucked with no fender rolling. Heh. We are too lazy to roll his fenders yet. HAHAHA.

dorifto180sx- thanks for the comments....i wish i would have gone 17x9.5 et22 up front, but was unsure of fitting 235-40-17 up front...no i know since i test fitted my current rear wheels on the front and there is literally 5cm between teh rim and the coilover...
looks like i'll have to do +12 all around next time :)
also finding a 225-40-17 is impossible to find, i think only Kumhos (suck) make them in taht size, mostly 225-45-17...
i wanted to tuck all four corner but i cant, i seriously only have a 2 finger gap average between my front lip spoiler and the ground! Rears will come down this weekend tho ;)

Honestly with how many people drool over your car you could sell your wheels for good i imagine.
I want to run some 20mm spacers on the GTRs. That would put me at 17x9 +10. honestly the front is the only thing i am worried about, but a who cares I will modify my fenders to fit until i get wide fenders (find where the tire hits the fender while counter steering, mark the portion on the fender, and cut the motherfucker out until your tires dont rub!!!!)

Looks like Gracer front lip and Nismo style sideskirts. cant see rear valence, but it there was one it have to be discrete like OEM zenki (japan-onry).

Thanks for all the help guys. I didn't even notice that I posted this in the chat section of the forum. I think I can get the rear wheels in a lower offset but I'd have to check. Thanks again for all the posts!

What of those wanting the same size all 4 corners?
How does 17x8.5 +25 with 235/40/17 on s14 sound?

I found out that the next lower offset for the 17x9 are +15. This sounds like the rims would stick out too much. What do you guys think? go for the +15s or get the +35s for the rear and go with spacers?

They wont stick out, if you run some negative camber and roll your fenders.
Personally, I would go with the +15's all around, but then again, the average person usually doesnt want to go through all the work to make wheels fit. (it isnt THAT hard though, really).
If you dont want to do that, just run the +35's with spacers.
can i use 17x9.5 38mm offset for the rear? with it looking ok.?
heartwork; do you have a pic of the front of the car? i'm getting 17x8.5 but not sure what offset to get.
thanks

the wheels I have on my s13 are Nismo wheels made specifically for the s14. 17x8 +35 and 17x9 +38.
They will be close to flush. I'm sure nismo does things a bit conservative.
cool; they have the 17x9.5 in stock but have to special order the fronts.
it will be 17x8.5 . now i see people using 22(like heartwork),24,29
which would be better. i'm going to have coilover in the future.
thanks

manufacturers do it conservative so they wont be open to problems/complaints. most people dont roll their fenders and many run a wide tire. so with a 'conservative' setup, problems and complaints wont arise
either way, they look pretty good on your car :)
8.5 i'd say +22 or +24

honestly, a 17x8.5 12-20 would fit nicer up front....
i still have some room up front with the 8.5's et22
is the edge of your rim right at the edge of you fender? i don't want to strech the tire to much. so would 22 or 20 still good? i placed the order for the 17x8.5 24mm. which would be better..?
thanks

Hahaha does it really matter now? You already ordered the +24, why do you car if +20 would be better? In my opinion, yeah it would be. Can ya do anything about it now though? Probably not.
As for being flush with the edge of the fender. On S14 17x9 +15 with235/40/17 there is still room. In fact the wheel is sunk in quite a bit (with a good amount of neg. camber).

I am running 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear and i still have room cause as someone mentioned earlier our S14s have TONS of room!
