So im running a jdm s13 vlsd on my s14. I removed the axles because I'm doing a rear z32 complete brake swap, but I forgot which axle belonged to which side. Does anyone know off the top of their head if the longer axle is supposed to be on the passenger or drivers side? Thanks for the help.

I bought a jdm imported s13 vlsd. I have a 95 s14. I can't swap the diff because nothing fits. It wont bolt up to the axles the same.

HOW DID YOU GET IT TO FIT?

Did you swap diff covers? Is your s14 abs? Is the diff abs? Are you using s13 axles?

Plus I thought s13 vlsd's 5 bolt half shafts.. Might not be what you think it is if it's 6 bolt.

Information:
MY CAR: 1995 240sx base. 4 lug hubs. Open diff. Diff has 6 bolt axle flanges.

MY NEW VLSD: off a so called imported s13. It is labeled a5 s13 vlsd. I have opened and confirmed it is a real vlsd. It has 5 bolt axles flanges.

PROBLEM: i cannot slide in MY CARs 6 bolt axle flanges because they are made for and open diff.
I also cannot use the S13 VLSD axle flanges because they are 5 bolt while MY CAR has 6 bolt axles.

Your problem seems to be you bought something solely because it was "jdm" more or less. Easiest vlsd to put in any USDM 240sx is from a j30. Plus VLSD's suck massive.
But I'm a helpful guy so that being said... Get 1992 Infiniti j30 axles or get the axle half shafts from a 95-96 j30 with a VLSD differential.

Why do you need a VLSD for anyway? Please don't say drifting. You're going to hit a wall.

Okay, dont go thinking i am "jdm as fuck". I could care less where my diff comes from. But yes, i am going to drift. But i am making a drift car, NOT a jdm silvia. Im just new to this car.

Whoa whoa bro. But you're not mad though right? Japanese parts are fine except when you buy the improper parts for your chassis.

If you're going to be making a drift car sell the VLSD and go welded. That's the most help I can give you for now man.

What is the problem with the vlsd anyway?
No im not mad, i just want it to be realized i want to be a serious drifter, not a "form over function" kinda guy.

Sometime when you try to initialize the diff will fail to catch. So for example you're turning a sharp turn, you clutch kick and bam it's like an open diff. Spin out and then wall slam. I'm like a psychic... Haha

Welded is great for drifting on a budget but crappy for daily. if you are serious for drifting I'd save up for a 2-way and call it a day. Best money I spent on my car.

Oh okay. Well it will do for now. Its a daily driver until next summer. but it will be a track only car by then.

Thanks for the advice!
