Ok so I know that auto's are very capable of out shifting a manual in straight line racing... And I do know that certain auto's are banned from circuit and road racing...

Can I make my auto work like this? (Yes I know im a wussy because I don't want to heel toe)

Anybody have the level10 upgrades that tracks their car (and i don't mean straight line driving)?

Should I grow a pair, and just swap to 5 speed?

Not trying to start an auto vs. 5 speed debate. I'm just looking for something different.

Okay Im no expert but aren't most of the "autos" used in racing some form of a sequentilal type setup? I pretty much consider a car w/ out a clutch an auto, wether you have to change gears yourself.

Level 10 rules, dont have it.

Get a 5Speed unless you have $$$$ for custom trans

if this is a daily driver then grow some.

if this is a drag car and you want the fastest 1/4 time possible, then go to jegs and look for some sort of drag tranny. get a big hurst shifter and haul some ace. yeeehaw!

i'm just saying i only see race autos in camaros, stangs, and cougars.

next up, weapon r swap.

A level 10 custome tranny? or a level 10 torque convertor?

Dunno if their ideal for auto x, most people use it for drag racing. Like Jason said, most automatics used for professional racing, are basically manuels with a clutch, this alows them to shift faster, and not mishift if the clutch wasn't engaged or disengaged properly.

If you want to know level 10 torque convertor based on experince, a friend of mine has a 1997 prelude vtec "auto-shift" with a level 10 torque convertor, CAI, headers, and full catback (and nitrous, but he won't admit it). Going against a supercharged prelude SH with all the boltons, he beat it by maybe .300's-.450's seconds at the local dragstrip. I took it for a spin myself against a integra gsr, all boltons and vtec controller. And I did smoke it, without nitrous engaged. But I wouldn't want the prelude, feels heavier then my 240 on taking off.

Track driving with an automatic isn't a whole lot of fun, and all that shifting up and down can cause a lot of problems with the transmission itself. Replacing clutches is a whole lot cheaper than replacing auto trannies.
