Bushing replacement

Who has any idea about how much a shop would charge to do a complete bushing change on the chassis as well as subframe collars, parts provided by me. Because this is something i REALLY don't want to do to myself on the s14...

Depends on who's doing it of course; there is no expected value for that. I just did it on mine. Wow, what a bitch. From what I seen, you only need to burn out the ones on the RLCA and FLCA's. The ones in the subframe I used a drill to eat away the gap. once I got the centers out, its a matter of using the a reciprocating saw to do the bulk of the work, then swap out for a hack saw. The blade will get pinched once you cut through the sleeve, then use a drift and knock it out.

i believe its like 80 buck if you remove the subframe and let them do it.. they should have a press so it will alot easier dont need to burn it.

Pressing the ones out of the RLCA's is very difficult to fixture. I only burnt those out so I could get the saw in place. The bushings can only come out in one direction. Pressing the bushings out of the spindles is fairly easy and straight forward. The subframe is also very difficult to fixture in a press, and I've got a pretty large one.

I started to cut mine out but I didn't get far before I said screw it. Took it to a 240 shop here nearby and they cut it out for me, and they finished it up same day.

^ya know it really wasn't that bad, maybe 2 hrs. Have you tried it with an air hammer? It's still a bitch to find something perfectly sized to hit the outer ring. There isn't much of a ledge.

It makes quick work of subframe bushings. I havent done them on my 240 yet but on multiple other cars. Its all about selecting the correct bit and not letting that damn thing jump around. Once it bites into the outer ring it will form its own ledge and go to town, but yea that ledge is pretty hard to get.

But in general it would take you less than a few minutes per bushing on average.

This is definitely a project im dreading, but can't wait to experience the end result. I have access to pretty much any tool i need and a lift, as well as help from certified mechanics if i get lost someh where along the way. I just really don't want to do the labor lol. Compared to doing a motor swap, how long will it take/ how difficult? Considering i can swap an s-chassis in about 4-5 hours lol. I've never really dug into anything like this before.

subframe bushings are a cake walk compared to a motor swap. You will be fine.

$90 at a local shop for ES bushings in to just the oe arms, minus the four in the knuckles (dont have spares of those to drop off).
I have not attempted to do or have done any of the many others bushings and mounts, yet.
