I have a '96 S14 with about 80k miles and I was wondering how much it was worth. It has a red exterior and a custom CAI. The interior is in great shape. As far as I can tell it is in tip top shape and has run fine since I have gotten and I have religiously changed the oil every 2500 miles. There are a few dings on the outside just from normal wear. The paint is fine and I have added an S14 SE gauge cluster as well as some black steal mesh to the front bumper. I have an oppurtunity to pick up a cheap S13 coupe which is why I was interested in selling it. I am in the tallahassee, fl area if anyone is interested and I would also appreciate some appraisals. Thanks a lot guys.

According to Kelley Blue Book Private Party Value, about $6,655.

Why are 96s so cheap? I just paid $15,000 for my 98 SE!! That's so much more money!! It was booking at $16k + allthough my car is 100% strait, it doesn't seem like two years and a couple dings should be costing $10k!!

Actually, I think at $15K, you got a bad deal (of course a car is worth what you are willing to pay, so there shouldn't be any such thing as a bad deal). I know a guy who picked up his 98 w/ 30K mi for about $13K, IIRC (a blue SE).

As for the value drop - who knows - but the 240's resale value plummets! Imagine being the original owner and paying $25K for the car, just to have it selling for 1/2 what you paid four years later? ####, I sold my '94 Civic Si for about 45% of its retail this last summer (+ a few suspension goodies). Two weeks later, I bought my s14 for 25% of it's retail price!!

25k? Christ. . It'd have sucked to have been the original owner for my car. . . I still have the sticker somewhere, and it was right about 28k!! I paid too much for it when I bought it, but I'm not bitter about that. .

Now, if the S14 was still being produced and I could buy a brand new one, I'd pay 28k for my car. But I wouldn't sell it, ever.

$15k was not an exceptional deal, but I don't think it was bad. It is a lot I will admit, but my car is perfect, and I like that. There was not anything wrong with it, so I gave in and paid $15... he was asking $16 ... that was just too high. Alas, I don't regret it so it can't be that bad!! I got exactly what I wanted an SE Silver 5-speed.

6 months ago I payed $12,250 for a 240 SE with charcoal leather interior, automatic, 5 year/100k mile warranty on it....awesome condition...54k miles though. I still got a great deal on it.

yowzers! Didn't know that. Also, the guy who got the 98 lives in Richmond and picked the car up in Texas! Convenience has a price. BTW: I tried to clear up that it was not a "good deal," but ####, if you find what you want and you are willing to pay price "X" - ####, that's capitalism

Hippo... I didn't either... I was running a KBB check on a car in Ohio (I live in Oregon) and his car was worth about $12.500 (a 97 SE) then I ran it for my zip code (97470) and it was 13,500... what the fuck is with that? It might be because there is never any type of natural disasters like a flood here? Who knows... does anyone?

I might be wrong, but don't cars in the northeast and snowy regions come with some sort of undercarriage or snow salt treatment under the car? thats what i heard...

This is a dealer option - I know that my car has a special coating (and a sticker to prove it) and that others in the area don't.

I would guess that some of the difference in price is due to road and traffic conditions. Snow + winter = salt and potholes in the spring. This area also has more congestion, so more idling time for the same number of miles (think hours of operation vs. miles). Also congestion means more collisions Those alone may be a big difference... I lived out west for most of my life and a 10 year old car wasn't a big deal... here, the few you find are usually clapped out.
