i got a ka/sr C's short shifter from japan. i knew it wouldnt work on the rb25 because of the bushing so i swapped them, installed the shifter, and everything looked good until i tried 5 or reverse. the shifter wont even move to the right.

any ideas? hopefully i can still use that shifter

Just to get this absolutely straight for anyone who may intend to answer this (because I probably don't), you're trying to use a KA shifter on an RB transmission, right?

yes i am. i searched prior to the install several times and got mixed answers from everyone.

from what i gather the KA/SR/RB20 shifters are the same but the RB25 uses a bigger bushing.

i took it apart again and the problem is that the shifter is a little bit longer so the bushing would hit the bolt on the left side

well at least you got your answer of whether or not it would work...too bad you had to find out the hard way tho.

there should be adapters available you can adjust.

yeah i bought a tomei and said ka/sr/rb put it in today and doesnt shift in to 5th or reverse... UNLESS it is raised up a little bit but that "little bit" and i cant instal the snap ring back in. . . and if i leave it drop back in a tad bit it wont shift to the right side

Should be able to come up with a spacer and do some shimming/ grinding down might work.. lol

any luck on urs man?? lmk

anyone else have opinions or recent experiences?!

no luck on mine, i need that spacer. the snap ring doesnt get used. the other pieces hold the shifter down. take a look
