I had my sr swap up and running there for a bit, but then it just wouldnt start. I thought it was the ecu at first, so i got another. which also wouldnt start. so we went through and checked the engine wiring... this is where it got a bit silly. we plugged up the ecu, tried to crank it, and the damned ECU started smoking. of course we disconnected it, rechecked some things. regrounded everything and tried a second ECU. same result. we checked the pin out on the ECU and it's the injectors areas of the ECU that were burning up (on both) I'm relatively new to the swap, so I was wondering if anyone had had this happen before??

My two cents is check your injector harness for cracks or shorts. check injector grounds.
Have you upgraded your injectors? such as they arent OEM sr injectors.

What harness are you using in what chassis?

well, we pulled the harness from a friend's sr swapped s13 that he drove to my house, and it burned the second ecu. injectors are stock.

did u also do a 5 speed swap or had a 5 speed swap been done from previous owner? I did the same thing on my ka.. the auto tranny controller was still plugged in and burnt up my ecu

it was already a 5 speed, and I just swapped in the whole motorset

Id try to unplug and reconnect the harness completely, and see if i spot anything fishy.

This is a awkward problem, your going to have to dig around and find it.

Your supposed to have relay's to prevent the ecu from frying like that
