ok this is just a dumb question. think about it guy. FF versus FR . Oh yeah in case you do not know what that means. Front wheel drive (front front) versus rear wheel drive (front rear) .
Now on this Forum most everybody is going to tell you to go with the 240 because its rear wheel drive and more fun to drive because of that. Its up to you . You should not make your decision on what other people think but what you want and what you figure out will suit you best. Now go use your brain and figure it out.

can i have some of the money you have? No? well ok then...i'll just give my advice. 240's are lighter, rear wheel drive, faster (especially if you are swapping the sr) and lets not forget OHH SO SEXY.
Keeping in mind that with a rwd car, if you turn too sharply, you just turn sharper...with a fwd, if you turn to sharply, your wheels turn and you keep going straight...into the telephone pole, old woman, her french poodle..ect...
Then you have a scarcity issue...how many 240sx's do you see running around? You can join our boring old cookie cutter nissan club...or that ELITE group of ricey honda owners. (note the sarcasm.)
However, your call...whatever floats your boat...try them both out and see what you like.

an sr powered s13 (assuming the s13 red top) would be a bit faster than an rsx type s or whatever it is
but the rsx would be brand new from the factory and engine swaps don't always go as planned. You'd also be looking at a used car in general, so theres always the ordinary maintenance type thing. If you can find a really almost brand new 240 i'd say get the 240 by all means.

i agree with most of the above statements but keep in mind that you'll have probably a 60k+ warranty on the RSX, it'll be more reliable, when it breaks it'll be easy to get fixed, and you'll have a brand new car instead of a used chassis along with a used drivetrain

The RSX looks like a mutant fly.

First off I would cay this belongs in the chat section.
Second, I believe the RSX will be lighter than a 240, though the SR will drop the weight a bit, probably ~75lbs.
Depending what Chassis you get (S13, older cheaper, S14 newer more expensive) you will still probaby be under the purchase price of a new RSX considering the max a good 98 S14 will fetch is under $15k and a swap will be under $5k.
As for performance, the SR swap with mild tuning and add ons like exhaust, intake, and higher boost will have you spanking the RSX. Staright line will be a decent race, but the SR will have lots of torque and pull over a broader rev range. It will seem faster around town, and require less shifting. You also don't have to drive it in the top quarter of the rev range all the time. Fun when you want to, but a PIA to work everyday.
The one really nice thing in my opinion about the RSX is the interior. Its pretty nice for stock and the seats look nice and are really supportive (s13 seats suck and they get better by model year for S14). Never did drive it, just sat. My friend at the dealership is traveling abroad and I figure its not worth it if I can't really DRIVE it.
It's up to you though. Go drive an RSX and find someone with an SR. Both are bound to be fast and put a smile on your face but will be completely different cars. Its apples and oranges (nissans and hondas, stock and heavily modded)

hmm, I'd say 240sx with SR, but I would take a 5th gen prelude over an RSX anyday, I still think the H22 is a much better motor.

New Skool Prelude sure looks a #### of a lot cooler than a gayass RSX that is for sure!!

Dude I drove the Type-S and liked it a lot but for the $24000 price I would just get a nice S14 and do the swap. I'm so happy I got my 240 instead of the RSX.

24gs, #### rip off..
The way i see it cars are ment to be decked out, I say you get a 95-98 for around 9gs, do a sr20 or rb20 engine swap, a nice kit, and some great suspention, and you will still have some of that 24gs left over, for other fun stuff, and the 240 will be fast and handle better for almost half the price.

Try to get a 97-98 s14, do a swap. You'll save about 8 to 10k, have a cooler looking car, a better handling car, and a faster car. The only area I can think of that the RSX would beat it out is the fact that its a new car and is under warranty.

sr equipped 240sx or rsx? i think i'll take the 240 (shivers at the thought of a downpayment, then car payments, and full coverage insurance on a brand new slower car)

I just raced an RSX type-S i nmy completely stock 92' 240.
I took him in 1st and 2nd. He came from about by door to pass me in 3rd. WOW, they have a REALLY strong 3rd gear. Either way. I had him sweating.
Thats the 2nd time we've raced. He admits I'm faster in 1st and 2nd. (And I'm still learning the car)
24gs, #### rip off..
my 93 vtec lude had a sticker of over 26 grand, 12 model years ago! :)
the h22 is a good motor, but the k20 and k24 are even better.

Ill tell you a quick story,
I had a redtop Sr20det in a 91 240. All i had was a full exhaust and boost controller, the RSX Type S was stick shift as well, with headers, cold air intake, full exhaust, and something like a flywheel or something small like that. We did a few runs and he looked like he was at least 4-5 cars behind me at the end of each run. My sr20det was a strong engine, i would say it easily is in the top 5 best 4 cylinders out. And for my engine to be at least 10 years old and run like an animal says something about it.

i have both , and the 240 is nice for speed , but the rsx is kinda on the luxary side , well a little. althought my 240 is reliable , theres nothing like cranking the rsx up and knowing it will start. also i-vtec owns you!

RSX type S is a good car
it can produce 220whp with I/H/E and tuning...11s in a lightweight body all motor and iwont be suprised if people start hitting 275whp all motor with good streetability in the near future...so i wouldnt bash on the RSX just becuz its a honda and FWD

Why not save a little money and get a decent quick FWD from Nissan. Say a 03 Spec V i have a warrenty till 2009 and i payed around 14g's with that warrenty upgrade. After racing a RSX type-s stock for stock(manual tranny's) i believe its a drivers race untill really high speeds.

i couldn't decide either so i got both, i like my rsx more for a daily driver and to have some fun with but i also really like my 240sx and thats where i have my real fun
