This gotta be the most peculiar smell coming from my car. It's like a bakery or something. About a week ago, I had my waterpump go out and changed. Just recently, I experience a sourdough type of smell coming from my car. Would the bad waterpump had leaked coolant into my oil and that is why I'm getting this smell?

I double check to see that I wasn't trippin. I closed my windows when driving and opened them up and yup, I can smell it. And it seems to be coming from the vents also, cause I smell like sourdough also. My friends think that I just came from eatting or something. LOl!

The scent is actually either way. Weather I have heat on or not. But either way, Would this be a bad thing? I don't mind smelling like sourdough bread, but if this is gonna cause me some problems, at least I like an idea of what the heck is going on.

It's definitely going to cause you problems and here is why. The sourdough smell on you is going to make you attract fat chicks. Better check your self before you wreck yourself!

LOL! At least I know what the Pisburry Dough boy feels. LOL. But on the serious note. So is it really hot radi-fluid that's causing this smell? How is this smell so strong?

Something like this happened a long time ago to my friends Cougar, but in his case it smelled like pancakes. It turned out his engine was leaking oil(I really dont recall where) and the oil was dripping on a hot surface. Ummmmmmm.....pancakes.

Perhaps a friend tried toasting some bread in your heater vents? food for thought...

I think I figured it out. It seems like there's a gas fume leak and exhaust leak. But does anyone know where I can start to look for these leaks? I seem not to be getting any kind of gas pressure what so ever. When ever I fill up the car with gas, once you pull the cap off, some type of pressure is release. It seems that it's not doing it anymore and I suspect that there's some type of leak that is leading to the smell.

bad pun. . . BAD PUN!!!!

I honestly don't know of an easy way to track leaks aside from poppin' the hood and looking for them. You figure at the gas tank end of the spectrum, it's largely hard lines that are not prone to failure. Basically just track the fuel lines from your injectors back and look for signs of fuel soaked on the rubber. Also might want to check the lines to your charcoal canister. You can probably isolate the charcoal canister by smelling the fuel after the car has been sitting for a while (IE: fuel pump off). If you still smell fuel, it's probably the canister. If you don't smell it untill you turn the engine to acc, then it's something after the pump.
