1) dont be stupid
2) you dont
3) unless you have a built transmission (high stall torque converter needed)

As helpful as these other members have been...

Try this for starters:
http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/shifting_faster_with_an_auto.htm

And try holding the brake as hard as possible with your left foot while giving it a little gas with your right. This will obviously put tremendous stresses on your transmission, but when you blow it up, you can finally swap in a manual and actually have some fun in your car.

This is the first time I have ever heard of this. I wonder if there side effects to unplugging it. Anyone know/have any idea?

this is pretty much the same thing as if you were to buy a automatic shift kit. It does pretty much the same thing.

christ, no it doesnt.. it just makes the transmission shift extremely hard and uncomfortably. I've been there, DONE that. I ran it at the track with it on, off.. i had a switch in my car, it was absolutely USELESS.

What it DID do, was make the car absolutely difficult to control through the gears as it would drop the RPMS. Leave that resistor plugged in.

If no, then stop being a pussy.. just go ahead and swap your transmission, its not THAT much work. Dont waste your time being stupid with this automatic resistor mod which isnt a mod. It does nothing for performance.

You forgot about the wheel lock launch technique. Hold you wheel to one side at full lock when launching, it helps build up torque. When you start keep it turned for like half a second. Trust me, it will look really cool and impress many people.

really tweaked Mike didnt ya? Im not sure if my resistor was unpluged er what, but my auto S-L-A-M-S into gear. Hitting 2nd at moderate RPMs feels like im launching all over again. The front end lifts (not off the ground) and everything. I know my trans will eventually fail, but for the time being its awsome.

So keep stashing away money and vacation time at work, so when your shit does go you can get what you gotta do done.

As for auto launching, its kinda all the same. All you really can do is torque break. If you decide to N-bomb the fauker, have a grand ole time pushing your car outta the pits...

I've been wonderign about a good way to launch the auto myself, and if i destroy the tranny then I have the perfect excuse to swap. I want a manual, just have to give the ole ball and chain a good reason for it. I don't wanna n-bomb it, and I've done the whole hold in the brake and rev to about 2500 and let off. My question is, what about engaging drive and slamming on the gas at the same time? Definatly not as bad a a neutral drop, but what kind of side effects would that have on a tranny?

The record setting ka-t drag car is auto. Mind you it has a z32 tranny. But it's auto none the less. Any racing that has hard driving will cause damage to your car. There isn't a way around it. Just rev it up high in neutral and drop it in gear.

I only answered this hoping you are racing on a track and not like a fag putting around on the streets.

I think street racers are teh gay. I realized how old the thread was after i posted but in my defense i used search and this was i think the 2nd from the top on the list. I have learned that nothing in life seems to matter unless you have a little piece of paper, which is why i'm in college, and racing light to light gets ya nothing, the track is where its at. So sorry I don't have a manual nor do i have assloads of mods to my car. My apologies
