so i never had a over heating problem if anything my car wouldnt get hot enough for a good smog test
so the tech suggested i replace the thermostat and replace the coolant in the radiator so i did
the car doesnt over heat or nothing seriouse but i do notice when in traffic for a while
after i got off the freeway
my car started to get around 3/4ths high on the temp guage
wich kinda tripped me out cuz its never been that high
ive already unscrewed that littlle screw to beeld ou the radiator and filled it till coolant came out the screw
so im sure its bleed
just dnt understand why it would still heat up
i know its not suuuper hot everytime but would still like to prevent
any damage to the engine because of this
so any ideas on why it may be heating up only when drifing in traffic after getting off of the freeway?
any help would be awsome
i cam here first because no one knows 240s

dude iv had the same problem on my s13 and i found out my fan wasn't plugged you should check that!

Just because you filled it up till coolant came out doesn't mean it's bled properly. Make sure there are no bubbles.

re-check u bled it properly.
next, see if your fans even come on. if you aint losing coolant from a leaky hose, then its most likely your fans arent coming on.
and i would just check your oil to see if you get any milky coffee color which would indicate a blown HG...hell just go and take the head off and then inspect the HG itself to see if its melted. I would do that just to be on the safe side. cause thats an old ass KA and i bet there never has been a HG job on that motor in forever.

I thought 3/4s temperature was normal. Thats what my S14 reaches when it warms up.

Ya ima chack some of the oil but im just gonna let a little drop out to see if it looks milky if so then ill put a new head gasket on it
when i put a new thermostat on it
i noticed right when i turned it on ad drove 4 minutes the thing went alll the way to hot
wich tripped me out
i saw my over flow boiling
so i removed the screw and just filled till
coolant came out the screw hole
then the car drove fine with the exception of freeway traffic sometimes happends to get to 3/4ths
but thats only cuz i get home by then but if i was like 10 minutes away id probly over heat...
And as far as the fan goes ima make sure to check it
when would be the best time to check if its on? After the car is nice n hot?
And yeah im sure
im not beeding it right just dnt realy know how to get a succesful bleed outta this sucker what methods do u guys use....

put the front end up on ramps and pop the rad cap and shake the shit out of the car..
drive the car...
repeat the first line again, drive the car, repeat the first line..
check/replace the radiator cap (caused me to overheat when I had problems).
Of course, I never bleed my cooling systems anymore b/c neither of my 240's run t-stats (call me lazy..)

Man, it's simple. Jack the front of the car up release the blessed valve, fill the car with the fluid until it trickles out of the hole, tighten the bleeder valve back down. Be sure the lock washer is still there, after wards take te car off the jackstands and drive the car for roughly 10min or so. Then jak the front up again and repeat.
Bur in all honesty this works everytime with me learned it from a buddy on here. Fill with front lifted up, then drive around and do 2-3 pulls from 3-6K rpm. I know it sounds odd and miss guided info but I swear it works!
Also dont buy a shitty autozone or pep boys thermostat buy OEM or nismo. Every thermostat I've gotten from autozone or anywhere else never works properly.

Yea lifting the front end up is recommended for some vehicles, it make the radiator the highest point in the cooling system so the buddle have no choice but to come all the way up and out instead of getting stuck in a tight spot.
I would check the fan setup and also make sure the thermostate is install in the proper position, with the spring into the block and the little nipple in the 12 oclock position. Also make sure the rad. is not clogged. And normal opperating temp for the sr and most cars i just below the half way mark. and the type of temp sensor installed in the motor should match the cluster or vehicle. Example s13 sr inside an s13 should use an s13 temp sensor. A s13 sr inside an s14 should have an s14 temp sensor.

I would check the fan setup and also make sure the thermostate is install in the proper position, with the spring into the block and the little nipple in the 12 oclock position.

A quick and easy way to bleed air out is to get a 20oz water bottle, fill it up with coolant and place it upside down on the filler cap and run the engine until you see no more bubbles come out.Thats what I do with no issues. "lifting your car up and shaking it" is a dumb way to bleed out the air. And popping the head off to check the headgasket for leaks is a waste, that's why block tester exists.
As for it overheating, it might be that your fan clutch went out. Figuring out if it's bad is as easy as spinning it before it warms up and it should move with little resistance, run your car to operating temperature, turn it off and it should move with much higher resistance compared to when it was cold.

I'm also jumping on the bleeding bandwagon. I had the same problem when replacig my cooling system, and that's a likely issue. Put a jack under the front driver's side and start bleeding. Follow the fsm.
Also, many people are opposed to electric fans, but I love mine. Purchased a 16" Hayden 1400cfm fan for $60, kept the stock shroud and called it a day. Runs great even in stop and go. The shroud is a must.

Thnx for all the replies guys, so ive been driving it fine until tonight
Started to heat up right when i pulled in and i checked the fan
Its still spInning and pushing enough air
So im pretty sure its fine as for the 12 0clock position on the
Thermostat hmm i should check that i jst remember placing it in the groove
But didnt look at the rotation
So i will check that and bleed it with the soda bottle way of bleeding
Unless its a bad way of bleeding,idk as we can see on this thread everyone has
Thier own way of bleeding a cooling system i guess ill have to find wich wrks
Regardless i appreciate the help u guys always come through

are you still using oem mechanical fan? if so, make sure you have the shrouds.

Yes still usin oem fan and fan shroud is the plastic cover that goes around the fan right.......that is on too

SilviaDriiftVert is right. Everyone above him was just plainly horrible info.
I've used the same method as him before with the 20oz bottle upside down with base cut off. Acts as an extension to your radiator fill opening so coolant stays in, air comes out. Of course not all the air will come out until its at operating temp.
Your fan clutch is also a crucial peice to make sure its good. Like he said, cold engine, easy to spin. Hot engine, hard to spin.
Another Issue I had on my old coupe prior to my motor swap was that debris had built up between my ac condensor and the radiator causing air blockage.
Defintely check how your thermostat was installed.
And a word from the wise, you dont have to switch your temp gauge if you switch temp sensors. The only time you might have temp senor to temp gauge issues is if you switch to a motor from a different manufacturer. Like I found out. But thats solveable by swapping a compatible temp sensor back in if your motors operating tempuratures are that different from the factory motor.
And one other thought, check the belt to your clutch fan. If it's loose, it wont grip at high speeds once the clutch fan engages. Just an Idea.
