So my sr20 makes this loud ticking noise from idle up and gets louder with revs. It's very fast, doesnt sound like it's 1 valve or 1 cylinder. Really Sounds like it's in the head but I'll take any ideas at this point. I've swapped the timing chain and done just about everything you can do with the lifters, changed them bled them and so on. I have about 40 hours worth of work trying to solve this problem. Please help!

try checking valve lash

Isn't Valve lash determined by the hlas? This all happened after the motor got hydro locked with fuel so it needs to be along the lines of something being strectched, or broken or the deluted fuel/oil having no viscosity effecting something.

Did you take out the upper timing chain guide that is rite at the top in the front of the valve cover. Chain could be streached and hitting it. Try taking it out and checking how it sounds.

im having the exact same problem, built my bottom end (oem replacement bearings, eagle rods, cp pistons) and changed ALL seals gaskets etc. head is stock, yet we resurfaced valve seats, replaced seals, just tried bleeding lifters... cant figure this one out, DEFININATELY seems to be coming from the upper area of the engine though, doesnt sound like a rod knock at all...
