To start everything off, i have a 95 240sx coupe and its bone stock.
I am debating what i should do for more power but also be reliable. I am also on a very tight budget ($10,000). I have considered turbocharging my KA, or doing an SR20 swap. I want to build a drift car to follow the footsteps of my brother, he also has a 95 240sx coupe. I just want to know what will be better for my purposes. Please leave as much info as you can and try to keep it simple, i am kind of low on car tech. But im still learning!

10,000 is not a very tight budget. Most people here would kill to have that budget.

$10,000 should be able to buy you plenty more research and still leave you with enough to get your jdm bling on

good luck!

Edit: who's your brother?

that's 10K alright. BUT!!! It's gonna be spread out over a period of time. My suggestion is to wait till I get to Japan so you can get all your parts through me and for the time being (since you can't even drive it yet) keep doing in depth research. I told you if you got a question, ask me. If I can't help you, search. If you get nothing from that, THEN post. If you need any help, just call, email or PM me. I check this forum almost everyday.

As a side note, get some fiberglass and a can of resin when you get a chance. I've got some ideas for your car that we can hook up next time I'm up there. Just some small things.

On another note, my 240 seems to have a slight problem. Every time i get off the gas my engine seems to give a BOV kinda sound, ive located the sound to come from or near the headers. Im wondering if this is just of age (175,000 miles) or something is wrong and how can i fix it?

Make sure your intake hoses are all tight, and that the hose to your IACV is on tight. Maybe the IACV is sucking air from the atmosphere instead of the intake piping, and your getting a sucking noise when you close the throttle?

Best bet is to sit someone in the driver seat, and have them rev, and release the throttle over, and over while you stick your head in the engine bay, and listen for the sound.
