View Full Version : Kosei wheels offset question

I posted this on 240sxforums but it's not getting much play; I'm looking for some more opinions.
After exhaustive research I have abandoned the Rota wheel idea (won't clear suspension/brakes I'm pretty sure). I have found a source for Kosei K1s and I need offset recommendations.
Here's the breakdown:
16x7 35 offset
16x7.5 22 or 32 offset
I'm leaning towards the wider wheels simply because the source quoted me the same price for both widths.
Now the caveats: I'll be using the same size for all four wheels. PLEASE don't talk to me about flushness; talk to me about brake and coilover clearance, and making sure that I won't have to run silly camber to clear the inner fender lip. The car will not be lowered more than two inches. Finally, I'm planning to run Azenis on these wheels, and to be honest I'm not sure what sizes would go best with the 7 inch vs. 7.5 inch widths; if they're not available in a size for 7.5s, I'll go with the 7s.
One final thing: don't recommend other wheels. I've literally been trying to decide what I want for several months.
Fire away, and thanks in advance.

get the 7.5" +22's all the way around. will look ok, clear coilovers, and because of the spoke design of K1's, they should clear Z brakes.
why don't you care how they look? why the hell buy aftermarket wheels then?

When did I say I didn't care how it looked? I like the Koseis or I wouldn't even consider them. Actually I feel lucky that they're available in sizes that work but are still pretty cheap.
I just don't care about the whole flush-to-the-fender thing. Maybe I will after seeing some other cars, but right now I'm not worried. Not trying to put down, just stating my opinion.
Anybody else?

Light weight, brake clearance, suspension clearance, tire sizing.

I have the K1's in 16x7.5 with 32 offset and they clear Cusco Zero 2 coilovers and Z32 30mm calipers. I also run 225/50 tires and the bulge in the tires comes close to the front coilovers. I had to use the camber adjustment in the strut bolt to its fullest for the tires to clear the front coilovers.

kosei doesnt come in a 16x7 only 7.5 in 16"s. i have +22 on the 16x7.5 w/ 225/50 and they are just over the fender buy the tinniest bit. if i had 215 it would be tit. they are a great wheel. clear everything fine. i paid $876 i think shipped from tirerack w/ 225/50 es100's mounted and balanced. best damm wheel ever for value i think. cheap, light, awsome size and offset, and they look hot in anthracite, but i have silver due to the fact if you want anthracite they have to send them out to get coated. awseome wheel

Yeah, but that list has no 16x7 on it
Has 16x8.5, if you were trying to say that 7.5 wasnt the only width, but thats a size not normally available in 4 lug unless you have them custom drill it.

nope. read the thread:
the K1's can be custom drilled to any bolt pattern but, are only avaiallbe in a silver finish
meaning all those widths and sizes are available in ANY lug pattern

I read the thread, when it was originally posted and again to make sure.
They are available because they custom drill them like I said. That's why those prices are higher than normal.

UPDATE!!!
I just spoke with the guy I'm dealing with for the wheels (NOT TireRack, though I've heard a rumor he gets his wheels from them) and he says that the issue is that Kosei isn't making, or isn't importing, the CENTER BORE for the 240. He says he can get me the size/offset/bolt pattern I want but that I'd have to have the centers bored out to fit the car (not an insurmountable problem). I'm pursuing the idea of getting bores that are a little too big, and using hubcentric rings. More info to follow when I get it.
I'm still waiting to hear from Luke at TireRack, for his input on this whole thing.

dousan come one guy, cut me some slack. i meant they dont come ine 7" i was partly right, i forgot they come in 8.5" anyway, it was actually $877.64 for them. i got them on 8/11 this year, dousan had some help in it, i pmed him a few times about offsets. they charged me 119 a wheel. the best money for product i spent my money on lately. and they come in blanks and tirerack has the bolt pattern drilled. i talked to luke i think about it. hes on the FA board . just buy the fucking wheels

the 17x7.5 +32 will fit all around. i know some poeple that runs those for autoX rims. the K1s are very nice, pretty much the best bang for your buck rim out there. i'm really looking into them when i get some money i can spare on rims.
