I have a 1992 Nissan 180SX, and it is currenly at a shop getting the close gear kit installed in the tranny. The shop owner just contacted me regarding a difference in the size of the mainshaft end gear from stock (the diameter of the hole is too large for the pilot bearing). Thus far he has just informed me and as it is 10:38PM PST, it is likely that he will obtain a resolution in the morning.

My concern is that this kit was supposed to be a direct bolt-in, yet clearly this is not the case for the kit that I have. Does anyone have experience installing the kit, was this problem encountered, what was the resolution?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Update:

After calling around, I found out that OS Giken is now in the US so I called them directly and they were able to send me the instructions which included a part number for the correct size pilot bearing. I have attached the instructions for reference:

I was looking into rebuilding my tranny some months back and remember reading that there are two different sizes for a needle bearing. Don't know that this is necessarily your problem, but maybe worth looking into. AFAIK all SR/KA motors used the FS5W71C with no other designation for the different bearing, so you may want to check which version of it you have.
