Everyone talks about aftermarket ends but how strong are the OEM s14 ones?

I had KTS outer and the driver side one snapped on me doing a somewhat fast turn. My speedos not working so can't tell ya the speed, but I took corners like that before without a second thought, just happened to shear off yesterday.

I don't have money for SPL so I want to know the strength of the OEM outer. I normally daily but I've been to 2 all day grip track events, and probably 3 canyon runs since I got my license (4years). I know canyon runnings pretty dumb but I thought I'd just throw it in there cause more the info the better recommendation I can get.

not to sound like a dick, but I only want to gather thought on the OEM s14 ends. I'm low on cash so even the OEM ones, that run for around $70, is alot for me.

So if the OEM unit does not hold up on track days, I'm just gonna buy some cheap used ones and daily on those for now.

EDIT

guys if you wanna help out please remember my first sentence.

I'm so sorry I misread your post. I read fail. I speed read your post and thought you had all PBM parts on your car. I missed the "oem tie rods" part.

I was leaning towards the OEM. Can I ask what you meant by beating on them. How long have you used the OEM ends for. How many events, etc...

The problem is likely not that they're weak, but chances are your car is probably too low for them to have enough movement, and they bind when the suspension compresses.

In which case spherical tie rod ends are the only way to get enough movement out of them.

Makes sense, I should of thought about that. I don't think my car is that low though. Compare to other 240sxs I feel I sit high, lol. Still on coils though.

I guess imma buy junkyard or used online for now till I could afford SPLs.

OP if you're on a budget get something from Autozone, they have lifetime warranties, if you break them take them back and they'll replace. Done deal. I use Tein's and I have had no issues with them, I daily and canyon run, I've had mine for 2 years now I think. Still look good last time I looked at them.

The thing is I don't want them breaking in the first place. Towing cost alot of money, especially when far from home.

I wanted to know how well the OEM outers hold up cause usually OEM stuff is good quality. It seems like with the PBM setup the s14 OEM end work great. I'm a pretty good searcher but I still haven't confirmed if the OEM ends will work well on stock spindle, arms.

Perfect Balance's logic makes sense. If thats the case I might as well get junk parts right now, drive lawfully, and save for SPLs.

I already decided to visit the junkyard this week, looking for some other stuff too, so I guess consider this thread a done deal.

If anyone wants to share there experience with OEM s14 end with stock spindle, arms, lowered. Share if you will. I thought there would be many people who'd gone through the setup I was looking for since OEM is stock.

Ohhhh I think they will hold. Trust me mine have been through he'll and back. They have not been to tjr track irt but. Im slamed and roads out here are shittt. For a cheap good fix get a pair of oem. To hold you over for a bit nothing wrong with them.

get auto zone oem outters for a s14 with oem inner for s14, they are a bit beefier and you get a LIFETIME replacement for them. so you just wait 2 weeks nad return your old shitty ones and have a set of spares if they ever fail.

OEM FO LFIE!

Thank you for sharing your very ingenious way of committing fraud. If OEM was so good, I'd have every piece of my car OEM. Sometimes, they just don't work out.

ended up buying autozone, one side case closed.

After that small crashed I found out my front frame area is pushed inwards and the rivets holding it in place popped off.

The other part I was looking for at the junkyard was the TCR right side bracket, which was bent. I found out the new TCR bracket i bought didnt fit because it was straight. I ended up putting the bent one back in.

I'm just gonna daily this car for a while and sell it.
