I was browsing around for some pics and I came across this...

http://www.east-bear.co.jp/origanal/img/pipe-kit/s14-1.jpg

The is 100% Japanese and the only english words I see are "PIPING KIT VERSION 2". I really don't know if that is including the core....because I really like how it looks. Does anyone know what needs to be done to make your IC core BLACK like the one in the pic?

oh yea...here is a smaller pic with the bumper on...

could be a stock skyline FMIC (r33 or r32 are black..not sure about r34)

you can buy piping kits in japan for them to fit sr cars. i think bwalker did that when he was there.

newbie response: I didn't know that the R32 and R33 had stock FMIC

another newbie response: couldnt ya paint it? or would that affect cooling too much?

We used black radiator paint on a friends car. Didn't seem to affect the cooling. almost impossible to remove if you dont want it anymore however.

Electroplate?

I think that would be best...

Unless it does not conduct... Then there is a prob :)

that is most likely a R32 or R33 gtr fmic with an East Bear piping kit.

All I know is if I ever go turbo, I'm going to anodize my intercooler black.

FMIC are aluminum. Electroplating is not the way to go. The poster above said anodizing, and that is the way to go. Look at all computer heatsinks. Anodized black.

there is also the option of 'radiator paint'
It's basically a thinner black spray on paint to clean up the look of radiators while not dampening their cooling abilities.

What's with the 'i hope this thread doesn't get locked' comment?
this is a valid question. definitely not one that gets run across every few days/weeks.

Swain Techs (http://www.swaintech.com/race.html) Black Body Emmiter coating would be good if you have the money. It's supposed to help dissipate heat and it's black just like you want. If you have the money I'd go for it. If you're short on money do the rad. paint thing.

my question with the painting stuff is wear. not all of us have mesh screens or such in front of the FMIC how will the rad paint and other such coatings hold up?

personally I'll do anodizing whenever I take the car apart... if I dont reset it up as a top mount/Vmount

There was a whole rack of locked threads...but I was just messin when I made that comment.

OK....

so how does one anodize their FMIC?

I never hear of this "radiator paint"...is it something you can locally buy?

I always thought an anodized FMIC would be hot. You could get any color you want too.. Black would be the most low key of course, but you could do any color in the rainbow.

It's pretty expensive to get it done unless you have a lot of people to go together and get a bunch done at once. Or you have to know somebody with an anodizing facility.

you guys you guys...

its called black radiator paint, its high temp and its extremely thin. Asad is an idiot, anyone suggesting you paint your IC with a "spunge" is just retarded. What is this, a coffee house -- are you going for a certain uneven paint effect? Are you trying to make clouds like I did on my living room ceiling? Jeeeez...

I used a 1200° high-temp paint for my alum radiator and IC, I even used that same paint on my turbo manifold.. which no one said would last, and everyone said it would flake off.. and guess what, its still there. You guys need to know how to paint, dont MASH the shiet.. you gotta just mist it.. add some light layers, thats all. I painted the entire IC, the entire radiator, the entire turbo manifold.. all of them look fine.

ps: As for efficiency, I really dont care. How efficient is your car when its getting impounded for "illegal motor" and you are sitting there grabbing your ankles while the cop is railing you? I'de rather have people NOT see it, and/or think its a really.. really big radiator. :)
