Former wrestling champion Randy “Macho Man” Savage died this morning after suffering a heart attack while driving in Tampa, Florida, it was reported.
The death of the larger-than-life superstar, whose real name was Randall Mario Poffo, was confirmed by his brother, Lanny Poffo, who told TMZ.com (http://www.tmz.com/2011/05/20/randy-savage-car-accident-macho-man-dead-dies-died-killed-wwe-wrestler-florida/) that the wrestler lost control of the car and crashed at about 10 am.
Savage was 58.
According to the same report, the Florida Highway Patrol said that the wrestler's 2009 Jeep Wranger veered across a concrete median and slammed head on into a tree.
Savage was taken to Largo Medical Center, where he died from injuries sustained in the accident.
