Well ok lets say I got 20 grand dropped into my lap and I wanted to build a 11 sec car.... Which car would be the platform? Engine swap needed most likely... and then some body enhancements. Also I've done my research on the supra and it's way out of the question. 15k for the car plus 10k for the engine swap is too much but god I would love to have it. Also any clues on a 6 cylinder engine that would be just as easy to get into the 11's? Thanks

Why would you swap the engine in a Supra?

Okay if you really want something different and vary quick and fast with a lovely top end and you'll be able to take a supra in a second. Buy a 92-94 Lexus sc300 w/ a 6spd. (no autos) if you find the right one you can get it for around 6k to 10k then get a TT supra engine (found some between 3k-5k) around the same year the swap is farely simple due to the fact that the JDM Soarer is a Lexus sc300 w/ a single turboed supra engine or a twin depending on the package you get. There's a guy in Austin, TX. not too far from me with that swap, but I think he did it the hard way swapping it from auto to standard and the list goes on. They do make a 6spd. vary rare but there out there. With alot of mods you will still stay under your limit and have a bad ass luxury performance machine.... www.turboimports.com/clinpohtwinl.html or www.turbolexus.com

hmmmmmm a s-13 240 shell 1k-2k then u have 18k to work on the engine..... hmmmmmm  :cheesy: that would be my choice
if your lookin to turn a 240 into an 11 sec car with an i-6, i would recommend a skyline rb25det swap. build up the internals, upgrade the turbo, i think a 300zx tt fuel pump should do fine, 550cc injectors, port and polish the head , might need lower compression pistons, and forged rods, cylinder sleaves, titanium valve springs, stainless steel oversized valves, cams and cam gears, alternator, lighten the flywheel, i think you also need the skyline transmission, lsd if you dont already have one(i know a few 240's have lsd, actually mine does), etc.. then build up the suspension, and you should be set. im not sure how much it would cost, but im pretty sure youve got enough cash to do it.

LanceS13 the reason I'd have to do a engine swap in to a Supra is because I couldn't afford the stright up TT version. It's expensive... like 30k is most of the offers, but if you find one cheaper anywhere in the Cali state give me the URL.
On the lexus swap that's extremely interesting. I completely forgot that Lexus cars do have a direct drop in with the supra engine.. umm makes me wonder.

silk a Skyline engine would need new motor mounts and the whole bit right to fit into a 95+ 240 right? Also a skyline engine and tranny runs like 5k.. heh but it's a though thou

go for an old datsun 240z with an rb26dett (skyling gt-r) swap, using the rb25det rwd transmission. it bolts right in with the z31 (generation before the last z's) 300zx motor mounts. ~2000 lb car, with over 280 STOCK hp...insane...
it does, but with 20k i think you should be able to do it all fine. a 95+ 240 will be a little more expensive, but you dont have to worry about mileage b/c your gonna change out the 2 parts of the car that are most effected by mileage. 20k gives you alot of room to work with, but im just throwing this out there for ya. i would love see how it turns out if you do go with the 240 skyline swap, actually im pretty sure everyone here would.

i'd skip the import scene and go american if i were worried about running 11's so fast. say what you want guys, but it's true, you can get an american car faster, FASTER than an import because of the cheapness of parts and people that can actually do the work around your hometown. but back to the subject because i need to somehow make a point here...$11,000 300ZX plus $9,000 in mods would be something to look into.

I hear ya on the Domestic.. I love the sound a 8's exhuast gives out. I don't care who you are you gotta love that. Honostly I could take a 94-95 5.0 and probley put it into the 11s but it wouldn't be me I guess. Heres somthing what about a 3000 VR4?

You can probably put a domestic in the 11s with 10K and use the other 10K to fund a turbo S13 to terrorize the autox/road course scene.

hahaha...wherezmytofu, I've always dreamed of putting outrageously big motors in the rear seat/trunk area of diminutively light cars. How 'bout a blown 350 in the backseat/engine bay of an old VW Bug? I'm sure that could easily be funded with $20K.

alright heh 350 in a VW... I think it's been done thou which is funny and sad. Anyway how about this... I can get a 95 240SX in real good condition for like 6k with not many miles at all. Well then get a SR20DET engine built it to like 380hp (http://www.executivecleancar.com/240/) That's where I got the hp estimate... then put the S15 converstion on with some nice sideskirts (suggestions?) plus a rear bumper too. Paint the whole thing... What do you say about that?

i may be wrong, but that sounds a little off. i'd guess somewhere around 450-500 with drag radials..but again, i could be wrong!

Will the 300Z engine drop right in? or will motor mounts be fabricated to fit that bad boy?

thats what i mean...for like 20k you could have sumone fit a steratospher powered john deer engine (2800hp rotory) engine on a go-kart.......i think that would put u in the 1's

If you wanna go domestic. Screw a p.o.s. ford and try a making a blown(supercharged if you don't know) 67-69 Camaro ss/z28 depending on the year w/ a 9" rear-end, traction bars, 6spd, you can even run it on the bottle. That's what a REAL domestic is. http://www.pebblenet.com/conceptcarz/images/Chevrolet/1968_chevrolet_camaro_z28-1.jpg ####, the 11sec try 10 or less
