back and forth back and forth i go
what do i want? do i want to get those Anthracite Kosei K-1's i've been lookin at for so long, or do i want an exhaust for that extra kick and the rumble i've been longing for
or do i want to save my money and build that SpecMiata this summer so it's completed for the 2003 W2W season?
decisions decisions.............
just thought i'd share my frustration

Decide to not decide. Just get everything. You will be three times as happy as you would be from just doing one. But you will also be 3 times as broke.
Honestly I would do a 240 mod since you will probably get the bug for it once you race this spring and summer anyway. You have all winter to prep the miata.

there really isn't anything i want more than a race car (SpecMiata) but the problem is it'll suck about 5 grand outa me, and i still gotta make payments on the 240, and to do all of this on a 4 month a year income is pretty difficult, if i did some more work on the 240 i'd be in it for a couple more grand, of which i'll get back very little, and i still want a 350Z or Z32TT as a gift to myself for graduating college and landing a job
so many cars.........so little money
Look at it this way.
Miata sux, but thats just MHO. Im a 5'9" skinny bitch and the miata is small for me. But they are COULD be cool for autox. But I see a 240SX being alot funner and handle just as well if not better for autox or drifting, etc.
The s14 Exhaust is really restrictive and if you get a exhaust that is well designed like the 5Zigen Fireball you will get maybe 10HP.
The wheels you want are BADASS and very lightweight. I see you have done other suspension mods. Add the lightweight wheels and you car will not only look better but it will also turn better and feel lighter since the wheels are lighter and your getting rid of the best kind of weight which is unsprung weight.
So, if it was me I would go with the wheels.

not to undermine you're authority west but........
miata's dominate at the track, not just autox, 4 out of the top 5 were miata's in my class, with me being 6 (no eibach's or tokico's then) and when you turn it into a race car no top is needed, center console gets taken out, and seats can be altered to accomdate people 6'3'' such as myself (yes i have seen people my size race them), i work at a mazda dealership in the summers and every chance i get i drive a miata, they are absolutely a blast to drive
as far as the exhaust goes 10hp at the wheels sounds like a lot, but i'll assume you've seen the dyno charts to back it up
you're right about the kosei's, they are light, which is the main reason i want them, and they're cheap, i have wanted them for quite some time

Just get the Buddy Club knockoffs and marvel at how they help the car in a more complete manner. (can't go anywhere without wheels <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>)

I say go for the wheels. When building up your miata, you can always put them on that too. If you get extra strapped for cash, you can always sell them. Usually, wheels have the most resale value (%-wise).
how much do those wheels go for?

man, i cant believe u people...go for the miata.
wheels and an exhaust would be cool, yeah, but you would have a RACE CAR if you got the miata. think about it - real road racing, or helping performance a bit on the 240sx. i don't think it should be too hard...

you know it. wheels and exhaust on a 240sx...wow.....
specmiata, i don't know what it means exactly! but when you're talking about racing (around a tight track i'm assuming) then the miata would be more satisfying in the end.

if you've heard of spec rx-7, its that with miatas...if u haven't, spec miata is a race class in the scca (or is it nasa) where everyone drives a miata, with pretty much the same enhancements dictated by the ruling body for each. its not hot lapping, its real road racing, as in world challenge and the shit u see when u watch the scca runoffs (gt1-5, showroom stock, etc.)

i know the miata would be more satisfying, but it comes at a price of thousands more if you read my previous posts
SpecMiata is run by many organizations, SCCA, NASA, Midwestern Council (what i run in) and maybe one or two others, you can research SpecMiata's by going to specmiat.com or specmiata.org, basically everyone is allowed the same modifications, but the actual parts you use is up to the driver
