View Full Version : FINALLY!!!

I finally got my car. HOORAY. Shes so sweet, and runs so nice.

So here is what I have discovered to be wrong with her.
1. She has a total of 20-30 small dings, mostly on the rear quarter panels. They look like from from other assholes beating their door into it.

2. The fear about rust on the Hatch has come true. Its where the bolts connect the spoiler to the body.
3. I believe I hear that timing chain clatter. I can't hear it in the car at all. but if the hood is open, and I put my head near the engine while its running. I can hear it. So is that normal?, or is any noise from the chain at all time to replace??

4. I think the Valve cover leaks oil. VERY SMALL. but then again maybe its just from ten years of driving and seaping. Is this a hard job to fix?

5. When I got on it hard, it smokes. Any ideas??

Over all.. The body needs some TLC and a good body shop. Still original paint, so was to be expected. Interior is almost PERFECT. (however, I liked the one peice leather back on my 90' 240's Seats better.) Engine looks like its NEVER seen water, or soap. Everything works. except the speakers are blown. which doesn't matter because I'm replacing them with MB Quart All around. I'll have all the pictures up in about 5-10 minutes.

god #### man... youve taking pictures of every inch of your car!! your car looks exactly like mine, even with some of the problems of your car, except the chain, speakers, and rust problems. plus my engine is cleaner.

I paid 3950 for it. I know it's a little high, but overall its in excellent condition.

I'm documenting it very closely, because I plan on this being a project car. Wana have the before and after pics.
My engine will be cleaner when I actually clean it. That is exactly how I purchased the car. I've already had the Center console out of it, and fixed the e-brake, and the little rubber thing around the base.

In my dreams at night, she has a s-15 conversion. no more pop-ups.

Any suggestions on the Questions?? My main concern is why is it smoking when I get on it? could it just be dirty valves? or would that indicate it needing a ring job? I'm gonna watch the Oil VERY closely for the first 5-10k miles.

I don't know anything about ring jobs... I have a little experince with rim jobs... if that helps at all....

I also thought maybe the smoke is from it running rich. any ideas on what could cause the engine to run rich?

So does mine but i went to napa and got a new gasket for like 20 something and i'm putting it on tomorrow shouldn't be hard but remember when tighting the valve cover back on start with the middle bolts and work out.

"2. The fear about rust on the Hatch has come true. Its where the bolts connect the spoiler to the body. "

dude i got the same problem i thought it was small but the i took the spoiler off and found out it went straight through, luckly my friends dad does autobody soo i can get it fixed for like under $400, he's gonna spot weld new metal on the inside and bondo on that. its all nissans fault for making the spoiler out of f*cking styrofoam, its like a sponge you'd be alot better if you took it off, puls i think it looks good without a spoiler.

####, that sucks. I was hoping to just have it sanded down, and put on a Type-X wing, and re-paint. That sucks. How much do you think for someone with no contacts??

the DOHC has a knocking sound to it.. its nothing wrong... you can only hear it when your ear is close to the engine right? then thats all it is...

You just need to make sure that engine is flowing enough oil if you hear a lil knock. Check the ring around your injectors also(not for the knock) but for loss of fuel. Take that #### spoiler off and if you have rust just get a diff. truck w/o the spoiler and get the one you like w/o the old holes left over. Nice car make a sil80.

Can you replace just the metal part of the trunk?? I though to do that you'd have to replace the whole hatch?? Sounds expensive.... How much would this run??

Funny enough, immediately after I bought it, I put in a bottle a fuel injector cleaner. I haven't seen anymore smoke now that I've spent about a half a tank of that gas.
