What's up with these things? I don't really understand it. Is there a reason for this? I've been seeing them a lot lately and I don't really get it. Why?

Some euro cars have a rear fog light and I think Honda kids mistook this as a rear break light.

JDM fanboy craze. Same thing as rocking a tow hook... Useless accessory.

Well some of those guys(1% of them) actually go to the track so you need a tow hook.

+1, but sadly what can you do about it now?

when i was shopping for aero, there was a s13 rear hatch bumper had that on it.
Dunno what it does, if you guys are referring to the mercedes rear fog light, but it's inside the rear lamp, not on the bumper lol

you were right at rear foglight, it's something required in the UK. the 200sx comes standard with dual rear foglights.

But it's a dumb ass accessory imo.

at first glance i was like "what are they talking about" then i saw it and threw my pc out the window...to the neighbors dismay. and wtf at the charging posts....well not really guess it makes "a little" sense if you relocated your battery.

posted from my itouch...hahaha

yeah, it's a rear fog, and it's for exactly what it sounds like it shoul be for. It improves your visibility (other driver's seeing you) on the road when the fog is dense. Just a safety thing that wasn't required stateside. But like all things, people here oblivious to the original intent/purpose of it have seen it and deemed it trendy. See also novice/elderly driver badges, tow hooks, roof racks, etc.

I wonder if anybody has ever connected their positive to their negative on that car for shits and giggles?

Tow hooks are for towing your car out of places you cannot drive out of.

Yes, all of the aforementioned trendy items have a logical reason for existing. We know the original intent with sinking your car in a sand trap at a track and whatnot. I know a lot of guys that have them (ones that are smaller and less conspicuous too) for when they go to the track for that very reason. However, on a street car that never sees track use, but rather hardparks at at "JDM" show-n-shines and meets at In-N-Out, it's just another pointless thing to add to your 'whip' for jdm-cool-points.

No joke, heard about a dude at a meet once who thought the rear tow hook on Hondas was so they could tie themselves off to something and do FWD burnouts. Those are the type of people that we're talking about. People who rather than actually do some research on what the point of something is, just draw their own conclusion and deem it 'cool.'

Sidenote, to anyone who's looking, I'm selling some super rare and totally JDM "shocker" stickers to put above your exhaust. PM me if interested. /sarcasm
